Does Bubble Gum Color Work

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Does Bubble Gum Color Work

Post by msdumo »

I keep hearing about the success of bubble gum Senko (Yamamoto) worms.
I rig these things wacky and texas style. I use light colors for sunny days and go darker as I loose sunlight.

Has anyone had success with these?
What's your favorite colour?
Does anyone know where I can get O-rings for wacky worms rigging?

o-rings... CanTire, HDepot, Rona, Lowe's... you get the idea! Use two at a time so they form an X and the hook is perpendicular to the senko. If you use one, then the hook is parallel and I've found it's tougher for good hook sets. See my avatar... 8)

Bubble gum... I've only seen one fish-caught on a bright pink colour... mind you, it was the only fish I saw caught that day (a nice largie at that)... so like everything else... there's probably a time and a place for it!

cheers,

I can't say I have a favourite color, but I have had success with bubblegum before. I was doing quite well with he bass and landed a pike also on White Lake.

I never thought about the position of the hook when you use an O-ring. You made a good point.

Are the o-rings worth the effort?

Without a doubt the O-rings are worth the effort, especially if you are fishing lakes that have loads of panfish.

I find it hard to believe the way you hook into the bait makes one bit of difference on hookset.

Yes. BubbleGum works.

I use to put 2 o-rings on also but then I tried with only one and didn't seem to make a whole lot of a diff. The hook coming out straight sure looked like it would make for a better hookset but it really didn't for me.

But I will not fish a senko wacky without an o-ring .

I have had success with hot pink for walleye on the st.lawrence river, I tie my worm harnesses with it. have not tried it for bass though. The musky like it as a trailer on a big spinnerbait

Using AS568 Oring sizes,

-010 or -011 for normal 5" senkos. I use -010 because it's a little tighter and perch can swipe the senko from an -011.

For the fatter senkos, use an -011 or -012.

For the skinny 4" senkos use a -008 or a -009.

Awesome BeachBurger! Thank you!

I am also wondering what sizes I should get for Apples on a treble for deer and mice from the pet shop for pike and musky.

Should I call Spense at LeBarron? I DO have the prerequisite Quebec plates!

:P :P :P :P

Is it too soon? Should I have not said that?

:D :D :D :D

...but seriously folks... try the veal. Wakka wakka wakka!

My preferred color is bubblegum pink. I use it for all my fishing - cigar worms, trick worms, finesses worms, grubs, tubes. However, I think white probably works just as well.
