Parking

I was advised that they do not get many reports of vehicle break in's and were surprised by what I told them. I was assured that they will step up patrols in the area and that the Niagara Parks police who monitor the Queenston Docks will do the same.
If anything happens to your vehicle be sure to report it. They direct their officers to locations that see the most activity.

That's always good to hear that they will have a little more patrols. I don't think that it will make much difference though. It doesn't take long to "smash & grab". That is what the Queenston theives are doing. They threw a rock through my clients window and grabbed what they thought was an expensive toolbox. It was only worth about $200. The window and damage to the vehicle is more than $2000., as they scratched the leather seats, door panels and two windows damaged.
The Niagara Parks Police aer the ones who arrived to take the statements. They informed me that they could not lift fingerprints or process the blood left on the leather seats, as they did not have "CSI" style resources. All they could do is take some pictures and write a report for insurance.
I like the idea of the bait program... but I highly doubt the local police will "waste" their time and resources on such a small crime. There are a lot worse crimes happening more frequently in the Niagara region.
The best solution is to park in the lower lot if you can. The Parks Police told me that they do not issue tickets unless someone is blocking the way or if someone calls to complain. The ticket is a minimal fee anyway. I only got one or two tickets in the past 12 years and the launch is free.
Good fishing!

Good point Legend, if it's not reported, hard for anyone to do anything to solve the issueLegend wrote:If anything happens to your vehicle be sure to report it. They direct their officers to locations that see the most activity.

If it's a solo job, lets send in the Viking! If the mission requires a team, I suggest this crew...

I agree though, a few patroling cop cars won't result in a capture of these yahoos. Probably will just cause the good folks parking below to pick up parking tickets.
I would love to be there the day they catch one of them though. There's a lot of chatter these days about a fish being out of water is like a person having their head dunked under water....I could bring back a few good facts regarding the effects of this.

The kids probably just grabbed the box and took off with no chances of prints in the vehicle. You couldn't take a lift off the rock which anyone could touch prior to being thrown in the vehicle. The Parks do have access to the resources through the Identification/Forensic Branch. Just not as fancy and without everything solved in one hourAaron Shirley wrote: The Niagara Parks Police aer the ones who arrived to take the statements. Make sure you report it so that they know that there is a problem as Legend already stated.
