InFisherman, FishHawk and OOS photos
God forbid if little Timmy catches an OOS fish when he out with mom and dad and they dare take a pic...CRIMINALS!!! Guess we have to take ALL the kids pics down too.....what a farce....it's beyond me to what extent people will go to...and at what expense.....in the end...who wins...what a stupid poll in my opinion...

Huh?
Huh?
The poll doesn't ask whether someone is a criminal for taking OOS photos, does it?
How could anyone read between the lines to that extent?
It asks whether F-H should take the high road (my interpretation) and not welcome OOS fish photos.
There is quite a difference.
If the poll asked whether people taking OOS fish photos are on the same level as rapists and child molesters, it would be stupid. As it stands it is perfectly legitimate.
Could it be the numbers don't sit well with some?

Nope your post is a little different this time...instead of insulting half the site, you're only insulting yourself this time.Trophymuskie wrote:First of all I am surprized you did not delete my post from today it was the same as last nights.Markus wrote: I'm open to suggestions as to how we can find some middle ground here.
There is but one solution and that is not to support illegal activities.
If a guy came on here and posted a picture of his walleye stringer with 8 fish on it, after posting that he was fishing alone. Would you support that illegal activity the same as you support OOS pictures?
RJ said it " an illegal activity is an illegal activity is an illegal activity "

Well said Mikey ! I couldn't agree more.
Photographs are a personal preference... if someone else wants to post pictures that's nothing to do with anyone but the person posting. As long as the content is not offensive then i don't forsee any rule changes here and quite frankly who has time to moderate that !

My Canada includes pictures of OOS fish! I would never encourage OOS fishing, but when doing a report of fishing, A picture has brought up a few different comments (OOS or not) sometimes you see strange markings, hybrids, eel scars, difference in regions, to show a tag. I would honestly say and have said before taking a pic of an OOS fish right now is more legal than doing 81 in 80... Has any of the naysayers done this? was it ok at the time? did the cop with the radar care?

I think in reality....people don't give a rats butt and are probably laughing at all of us for even discussing it.....
I somehow wish I could have avoided getting involved in it....
We all are beginning to look ridiculous....oh well...

Ah - the plight of the children has now been envoked....the circle is complete and the arguement shall now cease as now anyone questioning the legitimacy of posting OOS pics could be construed as destroying childhood memories...

Seriously though - I don't see there being any expense associated with this discussion...it's simply a barometer of how people feel. The mods/admin. aren't slaves to our opinion - they'll do as they wish (and rightly so). I don't see why a discussion is perceived as being dangerous - honestly, I think it's been pretty civil thus far. If you don't want to participate then don't read it.
Personally, I happen to disagree with them, but that doesn't get in the way of me enjoying the rest of the content on the site.

Where did I state my opinion?.....

I get involved in these mainly because my job doesn't exercise my brain enough....bantering with you guys about topics is great exercise...

I aree with RJ about opinions being assumed.
My position is simple.
Do I care if someone takes a picture of an OOS fish? No
Do I think we should post them? Yes, if you want.
Do I think we should stop people from posting them? No.
Would I support FH.Net if they decided to enforce a policy not to post OOS fish pics? Yes

I personally value this site for the fishing side of it, along with the opportunity you have to meet great people with the same interests. Everyone has there own opinion, some just choose to voice there’s a little louder. Some just like to stir the pot; some just have nothing better to do. Some probably don’t even own a fishing pole. Fish-Hawk is a fishing site for people that enjoy the sport. If you don’t like it just hit the little x in the upper right corner and that’s it.
To do what RJ said “So everyone who enjoyed Nighttroller, Bacon and Cman's sturgeon photos.....kiss em goodbye!†That would be a shame. Cman's sturgeon was caught on my boat. It was put back in the water so fast that we don’t even know how long it was but we did get a picture. And I’m sure any fish caught by a responsible angler is returned without harm.
Everything will soon be “in season†so what’s next? Just enjoy the site for what it is. Happy fishing!

I would like to say thanks to Rider. I think your explanation is very covering of the facts. I know that I was probably one of the first people to post an out of season fish ( a musky) from the Headpond about 4 years ago. I was not trying to be smart, brag or any of the aforementioned but these things do happen and my partner and I stayed with this fish to make sure it was revived and on its way safely, after a photo.
My apologies to anyone this may have offended.
This season I have stayed WELL CLEAR of any area close to resembling BASS territory and I will admit to so far having a poor fishing year but so far I have not tangled with an OOS fish.
To RJ, Markus and all the other Monitors on this board you really are caught between a rock and a hard spot but thank you for one great Job.
I am the same character that launched a request to hold fish properly for photos, I was not wanting to criticisize, but have happened across fish with broken jaws and was only hoping to help educate some fishermen(Ladies) on handling fish for photos, not just Hawktalkers but everyone who reads these posts.
Please remember has anyone seen the perfect human yet. I know I haven't and I don't think anyone else has either.
Lets just live, learn, and appreciate what the good Lord has given us and not be so darn Critical of everything.
Please enjoy and I hope everyone has a GREAT FISHING SEASON.

The fish don't know what season it is and how many of our marine biology specialists can really tell us what season it is. Every year is different, weather, sunlight and water temperatures, the variables are forever changing and do the FISH read our regulations.
Lets just use more COMMON SENSE.
