me and tinbanger are heading out to fish lake dalrymple tomarrow. we are hopeing to get in to some walleyes and some pike. are there any good spots that any one knows of that they could tell us?. what are some good baits for there right now, i am guessing huskey jurks and x-raps, spoons, spinners and spinnerbaits, and jigs for walleyes.
My mom goes to lake dalrymple every year. The fishing has seemed to slowly getting worst every year. It seems the Walleye are best in the evening or at night. They are tough to get during the day.
Lots of weeds in the lake so just find some green weeds and I am sure you will get the Pike.
The walleye fishery is down and the pike is WAY up. They have actually a club on the lake that is starting to stock walleye on Dalrymple. The only problem was that they didn't register their fish with the ministry so they had to can the whole project. They drained the pools and all the walleye died (I believe thats what happened). The whole thing was based on donations from people (such as myself gave I believe close to 500 bucks) so it kinda sucked knowing that the money was wasted. They have started it up again and hopefully it will be better.
Now I've been up to Dalrymple every year since I was born. My most productive bait for Dalrymple is the white spinner bait. Every year it just catches more and more. I suggest bigger blades.
My fav. spinner combo for Dalrymple would be a white spinner 3/8 to 1/2 with single fluted blade and a yum chunk trailor. It tends to catch the most fish. I'll soemtimes add a red kicker blade.
As for walleye, Last year I used the rapala long cast minnow in black and silver and landed 3 missed two in one night. Right at dawn. I'd tell you were I was catchin em but its hard to explain. Its near Avery point by the single rock island. Good size also.
I can tell ya to fish the rock islands on lower (Ibelieve always get em confused). The main forage for the Lake is Crawfish so if your into live bait, you know what to use.
If you get out their, good luck. And if your buying bait go to the Dalrymple resort. VERY friendly people and nice nice owners. Fun place to stay also.
And a word of advice, don't let the locals see you releasing pike their. They are into the killing of them since they are taking over the area. I made that mistake last year in weighing a 15 lber in at the resort and one local actually forced us to keep the pike. He wouldn't allow us to let it go. So if you wanna relase em, don't let to many people see you.

I know it pains me to have to keep fish. Especially the big guys. But thats how they are on that lake. Im not saying keep em but don't let them see you release em. Most won't care but you might get the odd resident who will get upset.
