Need Navigation Help - Mississippi at Almonte

My father has been requested to take some tours on his 40' pontoon boat out of the Almonte fairgrounds during this years Celtic Festival. He wants me to scout it out.

I heard its nasty in there. Has anybody used the launch behind Almonte Fairgrounds? Whats the trick heading towards Appleton? I understand its clear sailing once you get past the powerlines? Is it safe to launch a 21' bassboat for exploring from there?

Got some feedback from a local... "Head straight across to so in so's dock, then head back towards the old birch tree, etc, etc..."

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
