Charleston Lake Weekend Report....

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Charleston Lake Weekend Report....

Post by RJ »

Well the time had come for Birdee and I to do some camping......and our first selection of parks is always Charleston Lake P.P......so we booked it a few weeks ago......and the time had arrived..... :P

We arrived at the Park on Thursday night...set up camp and launched the boat all before 8 PM.....time to relax.... :)

The plan was to get up at 5 or so....and head to the lake for some laker trolling.....I was somewhat surprised by Birdee's eagerness to get up at 5....  ..but off we were.....

By the time we hit the water after watering Sinker....it was about 6.....615.....rod bouncing......Birdee gets her first laker.....

and the next....

I finally kept the rod to myself to land one....

Image

We left at about 9 to head in.....a successful morning...now it's nap time...

Headed into the Outlet for a magazine.....came across this fella...

Image

After doing nothing all day we planned to head out for the evening bite....hit the water at about 6......landed 3 more..... :D

My fishin' partners for the weekend were always hard at work...

Great Sunset!

Got out Saturday morning with Muskiemagnet.....as mentioned in other reports...tough day!......nada... we were off the water by 9 am.....

Sunrise shot...

Image

Birdee and I headed back out at night and picked up another.....Magnet and his son Tim got a pair of nice ones that night..... :)

Upon asking Birdee about her thoughts on Saunday mornings fish.....she said I'd be flying solo..... ...no problem...I'll take my fishin' buddy Sinker with me.....

Image

And did he pay off!... :D

3 fish in the first half hour.....

then the rod bounces once......pick it up.....pop the release....and 50 feet of line peels outta my reel...  ..what the???...

After about 15 minutes.....up she came...a father and son team gave me a hand by snapping the pic for me...(thanks if you read this guys)....and off she swam....28 inches...

Image

drop the line down again.....

22 incher...

21 incher...

Around 930....headed in.....

A great weekend for sure!.....Can't wait to do it again at the Adventure weekend in a few weeks!

Sinker sure does have the camping thing down pat...

P.S. For those interested in depths of fish....all my fish today came in between 24 and 30 feet down....over 100...60 foot leads...

Friday....we had 1 at 25....2 at 90... ....3 around 35....

Looks like the pup is settling in nicely! :P

Looks like that firepit has a nice spot for a cast iron pan...any laker lunches? Charleston has some of the best tasting laketrout i've ever had.

I like the new seat too. Birdee looks a lot more comfortable now. :P

hey RJ good going on the lakers. Seems the best bites in this heat are early in the mornin and just before dark. Nice pick of the snapper(turtle)i've been seeing alot of them along the side of the road the last week or so, all laying eggs. Sinkers gettin big, soon he'll be able to pilot your boat for ya while you fish. Gotta love camping. Good report. Nice pics.
Heading to Charleston this evening.
Oh ya, nice snow pants :P :P :P
