Rideau carp

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Rideau carp

Post by Brit »

Spent a few hours on Saturday fishing the Rideau at Manotick for carp and had excellent success caught three of the little critters and lost five in the thick weed.

First one I had was 12lb,second was 24.5lb and the third was 26lb,all of them fought like demons.

Used popped up sweetcorn and a simple sweetcorn and breadcrumb groundbait(think you guys call groundbait chum!!)

Have attached two photos of the two biggest which I hope come out,as it is the first time I have posted photos. To give you some idea of the size my rod handle from the foam bit above the reel to the end is 29 inches in length.

Will be out again in search of a thirty which is undoubtably out there in the Rideau SOON!!

cassie, fish provide more than just food...

entertainment and sport for one.

you'll find a boot tastes quite nice, compared to a carp.

Nice catch brit.. i don't suspect too many to be over 30 in the rideau but i'm sure there's always surprises to be had.

There was recently a 51lb 14oz one out of the st. lawrence which is where i try to put my time in

certainly did...

its the carp barrier, they release all the fish...nothing gets wasted.

they also netted, tagged, and released a perch with the dimensions and weight that would destory the Ontario record...or so it was reported in the paper....

the carp are so big and plentiful in the bay that when i'm running in the boat full speed, you hit them with the motor....
