Weekend Report

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Weekend Report

Post by nighttroller »

Had a great fathers day weekend of fishing. I think the fish new it was Fathers day and were cooperating nicely. I started out on Saturday with Bacon and PENG meeting me at my place at 6:30. The boat was loaded and ready and after a quick stop at Tim's it was off to big Rideau for lake trout and pike. We weren't fishing 5 minutes when I yell fish on, as I am battling a fiest laker I hear Bacon yell double header! It looks like it was going to be worth the drizzily cool day after all. Here is a pic of Bacon's laker.

Image

We then went through a lull of at least 10 minutes and Bacon yells fish on. PENG does a nice job of netting her and after a quick release we were fishing again. Now it is PENG's turn and Bacon does a fine netting job and I took a quick pic.

Image

After several more fish and our limit in the livewell, it was off to Lower Rideau for some pike fishing. The trick was going to be to catch pike without the OOS. We did a pretty good job catching a lot of smaller pike but PENG managed this 29". This is my favorite pic of the day and it sums up what a great time we had!

Image

Between the pic the Bluegills (RJ I think we found your winter Blue Gill hole) were nipping at everything we threw. Bacon yells I just had 100 bites and shortly after that PENG pulls in this monster.

Image

Long before the day was over we were already planning our next and our next trip after that. It was a blast!

Sunday I hooked up with PENG and we hit the Rideau River and we meeting Probassing out there. We stopped at a few of our favorite Musky spots on the way and PENG nails this nice 40" on a mepps #5 spinner.

Image

There were a few battle scars on this girl but after a quick pic she took off full of energy. After talking to JP and admiring his new ride it was off to meet Probassing. We fished together in teh same areas for about an hour and Probassing yells he has a musky on. 32.5" on a spinner bait.

Image

I was tossing big musky baits all morning and PENG and Probassing landed theres on smaller baits but I was holding out for the big one. about 10 minutes after Probassing's musky I get a nice hit and I think all right. It was no 40", actually it was no musky either but a 31.5" pike gave a nice fight. This fish was really beat up and looks like it lost a few rounds with a much bigger fish.

All in all it was a great weekend spent with great company and the fish cooperated. Bring on the Bass!!! [/img]

Yeah my trolling days are pretty much over since I bought the Bass boat so we were drifting and jigging spoons and tubes. I still troll for walleye from time to time with the electric (at night of course :D ) but the main motor trolls at 4.5 mph good for musky but that is it!!! :D :D

First time out with CB and had a blast. Thought I was going to be netting all day for Nighttroller and CB but finally hooked up with one. Not only were we catching fish but we also had great entertainment (CB the rock star) on board. Have to remember to bring Nighttroller's guitar with us next time for the lull periods.
