Bass Opener Report - Dial Up Beware!

Post by BBRich »

Sleded got up early for the first time in his life and he wasnt even hungover surprisingly, and we headed to Port Rowan to start the day fishing for legal bass!! It was a long time coming for sure. I started with a buzzbait in the channel and Sleded put on a Jitterbug, and we were in action. We got a couple small ones in the channel, then as we worked our way out into the lake Sleded got the first quality of the fish, maybe 2lbs? A quick pic and she was released..

Next it was my turn to hook into a quality fish on the buzzbait. After seeing a nice pike hit and miss my buzzbait I got another hit, and up came a nicer largemouth compared to most of today's fish. Not sure on the weight, maybe another 2lber.. maybe less.. who cares! Another pic, and another release...

Well what can I say for the rest of the day? We fished the shoreline, marinas, flipped boathouses and docks.. and overall probably got 40-50 largemouth throughout the day! I couldn't keep them off the Senkos, which is cool because this is the 2nd time I've really ever tried them. Definitely a new confidence bait! The average size bass for the day is this:

After we were done fishing and declared losers even though I missed a bass that was well over 4lbs we headed to the pavillion to get the camp stove going for the meet and greet with members of a different board. It didn't look like we were going to have a good turnout at first, but suddenly came Greenbastard and Serge ready for some good conversation. Next to come was Fighting15 & His Wife and Irongimp! Then came a couple of surprise guests, Big Dave & Rick Levick! And finally down came Rob (J-Slick) and his friend (still dont know the name). Oh and a little later on Buzzz stumbled over and we all realized where he gets his nickname from ;)

Lots of great conversation and good laughs shared between us. I even gave a little demonstration on how to use a senko (and almost got a few bluegill in the process, lol). And a few of us joined up with the LPBAA (myself included).

Here's a few pics for you!

Never did get Rick Levick or Buzzz on my camera but there are some more pics on Greenbastard's camera to be uploaded as well.

Overall a great day and even greater to meet a new bunch of good guys. Can't wait to do it again fellas, thanks for making a good day on the water a GREAT day to remember! :D
