Broken rod

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Broken rod

Post by Lucky4 »

A guide on one of my favorite rod broke! It is the second from the tip of the rod. I am wondering if it could be replaced. Do you know of any tackle store in the Ottawa area that might be able to do this job?

Otherwise, last WE up North (Verendrye provincial park) was very windy and we had no luck finding the lakers. Only a few pikes (largest 32”) were caught. However, we saw a black bear and lots of loons. With all the wind, there were no bugs to bother us. Overall, it was an other excellent fishing week-end.

I am a bit late with my pics, so here are a few from the previous week-end…

you can fix the guide yourself verry easily, just take the old guide off and replace it using power pro or any other braid for that matter. Buy some matching nail polish, unless your wife is a goth chick, then you might be able to find something close to the shade you need in her collection   lightly sand the nail polish, just enough to dull the finish and then use a few coat's of varnish or until it's smoth enough not to cause line failure... good luck

I've replaced several guides with regular sewing thread and do the nailpolish thing like HOF suggests.

Reel to Reel Plus on Flewelyn off of Eagleson, they can fix you up brand new :) The nail polish thing works, so does crazy glue, and plain old sewing thread. But if the guide is broken, not the wrap I think you will have to take it to them.

Thank you for all the tips. I think I will let the pro take care of this guide and see what R2R+ can do. Too bad they don't have a store on the Gatineau side of the river.
