Trout fishing in eastern ontario

Post by Auger »

Folks,

I have a buddy looking for lakes and rivers that have trout in them. Species, speckle, rainbow, brooke, brown and lake trout.

He does not have a boat, can fish from shore.

He is getting tired of catching bass, and northerns.

thanks

It is all season for if he tends to "Floatfish" for them, if he tends to flyfish for em, thats another story on locations.

Could ya let us know how he targets them, and we can try to help you, and him with a few areas :D

Sry it doesnt have to be either or.....If he wants to try small ultra light tackle aswell, he can post in here, or you can ask for him.We are all trout bums in here

hello auger,,
For trout you have many options. You can goto upstate ny at the st.regis river, salmon river, cold creek, marble creek ect....All have browns, bows and brookies. For more info pm ganman, like squib said, a walking encyclopaedia  .
There are also lakes stocked at calabogie, but i dont think theyre very good right now "too hot" But there is place called bing retreat near westport that is stocked with rainbows and brookies. I caught i nice 22 incher there last fall, great fight. It is very pricy "40 dollars a persone"
but it is a consistent producer. http://bingretreat.com/ you will find more info here on bing retreat.
The last option is la ruisseau de la brasserie. It is in hull "brewery creek in english" and is stocked with rainbows and a few browns. It is a good place to catch lunch and have some fun with little rainbows. It is best in the evening or early morning when it is cooler, i normally use small hares ears or small caddis flies. If you are spinfishing try shrimp, they seem to love it :?
They also stock the ottawa river at champlain with browns but it is way too hot, and the water is way too low so they will be VERY difficult to catch
good luck auger,yff3
