Fishing in Almonte

Post by J Horowitz »

went to Almonte and fished right below the falls in town, found a large pool and it was full of small mouths and large rock bass and one 3-4 pound walleye anyone else every fished here also below bridge behind a building saw a nice pool but would have to climb down rocks not sure if this allowed but looked very promising deep pool at least from above .

hello jh,
I have fished at the bottom of the galetta dam, in fact i was there today. Nothing huge but between my friend and i we caught maybe 40 smallies 1 walleye and 3 rock bass on buggers. The biggest bass was around 2 pounds, but we saw a three pounder. Never tried near almonte...but im sure the fishing is quite simmilar. I have heard there are pike at the bottom of the galetta dam but i have not yetv seen or caught one,but theres plenty of carp.

3 horowitz,
Were you fishing above the bridge or below? If you were fishing above, the building would be the Victoria Woollen Mill (where I once had my office - the big window). I used to look out and see all sorts of fish. Yes it is allowed, just be careful. I'm told there are large bass at the very bottom accessed from the park but have yet to fish there.

Yes we fished below the bridge in a pool down from the last waterfall the place I was looking at you would have to climb down the rocks from the bridge into a bowl with a big waterfall and very large pool anyway it was great and would love to go again lots of small mouths and one very large walleye
