How young is too young to start fishing

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

I started my little guy at 2. Granted, he didn't have a hook on the pole - I took the hooks off a rapala and let him cast it out and play around with it to get a feel. He is now 3 and a half, and continually out fishes dad!

I am going to start him on the fly rod probably around 5 or 6 (or as soon as he can wade a shallow trout stream).

Kingmann!

Congratulations on your newest son & future fishing partner.

You & your wife are very brave (or very foolish) to take on a 3rd son! I am licked with 2!

I say that as soon as the baby can "help" to reel in a pole and knows that the fish is not a teether would be a great time to get some exposure in. And as we all know, you are one of our very talented rockbass fishermen, so he should have a blast pulling rockies out with his Daddy.

Best wishes to your whole, growing family!!! Happy news. :D
Thanks, Dad, for taking me fishing when I was a kid.

Started my boys out with a piece of dowling and a couple feet of line on it when I thought they'd sit still long enough to not drive me crazy. They caught everything from sun fish to walleye on it. No hassle uncomplicated fishing.

Hey Kingman congrats on the new bundle of joy. You have another fisherman and a future t-ball star  It's never too early for fishing (so long as the life jacket fits)

... I came out with my gear ready to go. I just finished putting on a worm harness and used a piece of the umbilical cord as a worm. I think I outfished the doctor and my dad 4:1. My mother didn't go; said she was tired or something like that...

Cheers,

Scott
