A visit to the Cat House

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

A visit to the Cat House

Post by saskie »

Since Saskette is out of town, I decided to pay a visit to the Arnprior Cat House with my good buddy Hoser. We got lucky - and we caught something. Fortunately the something had fins and doesn't require a needle. The bite wasn't quite as hot as our last outing, but the ones that did make it to the boat were larger. Hoser got the biggun' - a 22.5" brute. My best was 20.5. Add in a couple +18's, a handful of 15-16 and scads of 12" dinks it turned out to be not a bad night at all.

We caught them in 27'. We tried 40' first but caught nothing over 13" so we moved in. It started slow but steady, and the action gradually picked up at dusk as expected.

Chicken livers were the preferred bait. I did ok with my pig liver concotion, but Hoser's chicken liver out fished me by at least 2 - 1.

Put on your dancin shoes twinkle-toes, have fun tomorrow

Hey, Saskie; you and Hoser did quite good, I'd say. Any catfish sausages on the menu, Hoser?

Thanks, Dad, for taking me fishing when I was a kid.

Nice cats guys.

22.5 " eh - any clue on the weight of that guy ? Wish that I could have tagged along. Gotta get out there for some more catfish action, but I may not make it out until the bass go into hiding.

Not a clue - I can't guess weight to save my life. He was a chunker with a full belly - maybe 5?

Nice report Saskie, and love the title of your thread :D

A chunky 22.5" cat, could go 5lb's... While at the catfest 2yr's ago our 28 1/2" and 27 3/4" cat's were between 5 1/2 and 6 3/4 lb's... For there size, they have an amazing amout of power and stammina, and when caught on light line, you could be in for a really fun day... Gottal love the cat's :)

Musky is priority 1 for this weekend. With Chester it so much easier to jig or troll than cast. So I went jiggin cats last night, the rest of the weekend I'm going trolling Musky.
