Nice job Scooter... I would be proud if I were you! :D :D

How are you going to replace the rivets though with the floor already installed :? .. or will you just lift the floor to get at the holes.. :?

Or did you already do them.. and I missed it? If you did what type of rivets did you use? :?

:D :D :D

Guess what.....gang....

The good news, .....no more big "dent" in my $400 budget, ..... :D

The bad news, .....it's now "smashed" beyond repair,

I'm really feelin' like an "elected" politician now,
 ....I guess I'll just have to jack up the taxes, ....to cover the balance...

This is what I broke the bank on, .....

Image

Last seat in the entire city, .....maybe even the province, ....if the cost was any indication...
(yeah, ....I know the pic is cockeyed, ....but even at that price, ....it wouldn't stand up on it's own.... )

Oh well, ....it's done now, .....I have all the seats I need, ....and places to put them....

Inside, ....the sanding and varnishing continues, ...

Image

Should have three coats on it by the time I go.... :D

May have a couple more surprises, ....tomorrow , hopefully not "big" surprises.....

Again, ....thanks for all your comments, help, ....and support....

Just gonna answer some more mail here....

Okay, ....you're back on, .....I know, ....you just got carried away, .... in the heat of the moment....

jammer13 wrote:Nice job Skoot... I'm very impressed... Your going to put a floor in my tinny when?? Maybe you could be a onsite adviser for me, pay is open fridge in my garage... We'll talk about it when i take you out perchin this winter...
No problem Jammer, ....so long as you're not planning to put in a "Galley", ...or a "head", or something like that, ..........hmmmmm, ...(just thinkin' out loud here)

One thing however, .....I think that "open" fridge policy, ....would be "very" helpful,....while you're trying to "talk" me out "ice" fishing, ....again...

Of course she has a name Wolfe....

Image

She's the real "skooter" , .....I'm actually the "skootee", .....

NOPE, ....NO WAY, ....couldn't sign up with that name, .....I'm just not the "skootee" type :!:

Rivets, ....what rivets,.....?
Oh, ....gosh darn....(Yeah, .....like I'd say that)

Actually, ....if "turkeyman" had been just about, ....say, .... a week earlier, with his post, ....they maybe could have been done now.

But, ....it's not a big deal, .....because...

1) The holes are plugged..... :D
2) I found out what caused the problem in the first place, ....and fixed it...
3) I know what goes where, ...and how, ....so I can have her apart, ....do the rivets, ....and get 'er back together again,
....all in an afternoon. :? (Geeze, ....that sounds familiar somehow....)

4) I'm outta time, ....and the calm waters of "Quinte" are beckoning....

Well, ....three outa four, ....ain't bad.....

Will try for a quick add on tomorrow, ....if I have time,.... if not, wish me luck and I'll see ya all when I get back....

:) Well done Skooter... talk about updating an old classic. :P This has been a fun thread.

You'll put her to the test next weekend when she gets bashed around at Quinte. Hopefully the planer board mast will remain on board huh?

Good luck folks. I'll be chasing Chrome off the west coast.

Just finished packing, ....so I got a minute or two here.... 8)

I didn't feel comfortable hauling the boat on an "away" mission, ....without a trial run first, ..... :?

Crash is driving up with me, ...so we killed two birds with one stone, .....

He brought "some" of his stuff up, ....., I don't think he brought the "house", but, ....he might have slipped it in the back, .... when I wasn't looking.......

We then headed to the river to check the boat, ...and maybe drown a few minnows.... :D

Morning, ....and ready to roll

Image

Image

On the river for an hour, .....usually by now, ....the bilge pump is an essential member of the crew..... :)

Image

A look at the white caps, ...on the river...

Image

after about 2 hrs....just a little dribble at the back....

Image

Crash noticed the sky getting dark....

I told him, ....

..."It'll blow over"

A little while later...

"It's starting to spit"......

Told him again....

"It's not supposed to rain today, ....don't worry...."

Well, ...I guess somebody upstairs didn't like me gloating over my dry boat....

So, ....he turned on the tap, ....

I, ah, mentioned....

"Guess we better go, ...eh?"

Crash was already headin' for the anchor.....

We unfortunately weren't fast enough for the fella on high....

So, ....He turned off the tap, .....and turned on the hydrant.... :!:

As if we needed any more encouragement, ....he decided to send us an "E" mail, ....which I swear landed no more than 50 ft away.....

Told Crash to get down off the planner board mast, ....and finish pulling up the anchor....

Well, ....the trip back down river was a real blast, .....one after another....

Of course, .....by the time we got back to the ramp, .....the sun was starting to peek through, ....just as well, .....I was behind schedule anyways... 8)

Pulled the boat out onto dry land, .....that was about the only dry thing around....

The wet blends pretty good with Crash's pants....

Image

Not so much with jeans.....

Image

Then I realized the problem, ......stupid me....

I forgot to close the "window"

Image

So that's our "warm up" for Quinte......

The good news, .....boat is ready to "rock & roll", ...hopefully not too much, ... 8)

Now I gotta decide the next move.....finish the trim and leave it, :?

...or leave it for now, ...and take it apart again over winter, ...to do the rivets... :?

I guess we'll see how she fares at Quinte, ...and take it from there....

:D :D :D

Damn, ......!!!!!

Oh, .....sorry, ....didn't realize you were here.....

I finally got to check out my boat today after work, .....(work?, ....Yup, ....happens every time I go away, .....)
It seems I always come home to a poopie load of stuff that had to be done yesterday, ......by the time I get caught up, .......I need a holiday!, ....again.

Anyways, ....back to my ride, .....I guess that rough water Saturday at Quinte took its toll, .....I lost three of the six patches that I put on, ....not sure what happened, ....that stick that I made the patches out of, ...is over a year old, :?

Oh wait, ....probably more like 2 years, ......I'm not sure if there's a "life" span on this stuff or not, ....the package is long gone, .....But if that's the case, ....why did three hold good? :?

I admit, ....I didn't baby 'er at all,
....I figured that I may as well find out right off the bat, ...if the repairs would work.
....They did seem to stick pretty good when I applied them....

So here's my dilemma, .....I've pretty much decided I want to replace the rivets, .....

Do I shut 'er down now and rip the floor back up?, ....or,
....try another patch, and wait till early spring to put the rivets in?..... :?

Take today for example, ....if I wasn't workin, .......I'd have been out somewhere, .....The thought of being boatless, .....is giving me the willys.....
Plus, ....I don't want to miss the Niagara bar trip this year, .....if my boat is functional, ...that's a few more Hawk Talkers that can make the trip, ....and head out with me...... :D

Oh yeah, ....thanks to Turkeyman, ....I've got enough rivets now, ....to do half the boat over,....
But he's got all the tooling and stuff to install them..... :?

What do you all think, .....another band aid till spring?, ....(I'll buy a new stick, if I can find one),
....or sleepless nights till I get it fixed right..... :?:

Hey Turkeyman, ....how many "cases" is it goin' to cost me?, ....to keep ya off the water for a weekend, .....to get this done.....(remember that I work better after a couple too    )

Help me out here gang, ..... :?

I'd bet Turkeyman would do it for nothing but you'll end up getting a face wash.
Good luck Skooter and if your boat is down for the count for the bar I'll take you out after my trip with Aaron Shirley and Barry Pringle. By then I should be and expert. :D
