looks like water temps are below 50 degrees

I had been spoiled by that long warm fall. Today I went out and felt the water. It was nippy out there, the water was frigged, and no carp nibbles. The air temps here are not even hitting 50 degrees on the high of the day. Carp are supposed to stop feeding at 50 degrees. Went to a new spot and saw a good sized bass jump.8)

I'm wondering if small bodies of shallow water will warm significantly if we have a trend of warmer weather later in the fall.

...or is it time take my gear apart, lessen the drag on the reel, and start pinning for the spring. :cry:

last week the rideau was 51 degrees at the surface. I am still going out Monday for some Muskies with the boss though.

I have caught carp in water less than 50 degrees. If you get a bait in their face, they will eat it no matter how lazy they are.

Today however was terrible fishing for some reason.. extreme cold front! So don't get discouraged yet, keep on the carp. :wink:

Water temp on the St. Lawrence was between 52 and 54 degrees yesterday. Haven't seen any carp lately, but everything else is biting still.

Went scuba diving yesterday in BOQ, water temp at 30' was 54 degree faranheit...

Was out working on the Ottawa River west of Buckhams Bay and the water temp was 11c (52f) from the surface down to the bottom in 40 feet of water.
Most of the feeder creeks in the area had temps of 6c (43f), lots of large bait fish present and active.
Well and truly hooked!

Hey scuro

The day after you posted that I went to my fav pond and got this carp on a grub, can't say it wasn't feeding because he hit before the grub got to the bottom. And he was deep hooked so it's not like I snagged him!

The water was 47 degrees and dropped as the rain started.

The water temp Sunday on the Bay of Quinte between Belleville and Trenton was between 48 and 51 Degrees note that is just surface temp.
