What do they do, TS, wrap you around the sticks and then break off? Is that what happened with the female trout you had on there in the one picture? Do they tend to break water more in the shallows (by the way, do they actually jump, like a bass does?).... ?

Thanks, Dad, for taking me fishing when I was a kid.

They do jump Wolfe, I find when the hook stings them in the roof of their mouth, they really go crazy and take to the air.

With the low water, there really is nowhere for the fish to run, but over and under logs in some pools. What happened with the big hen I lost was, she slammed the spawn sac on the other side of the river and ran upstream. I managed to play her for a minute when she made a run under a submerged branch. While I was trying to position myself to work around that, she was still taking line and went around a few more logs. Finally, I could no longer feel her at the end of my bent over 11 foot rod. At that point it was goodby fishy. In this case, the fish never did jump. All of the logs and branches she wove through were underwater.
Cheers,
TS

I purchased mine directly from Dick Swan, who sent them to me from Michigan. Dick was the founder of the Noodle Rod back in the 70s.

Try a google search on Dick or Richard Swan. I no longer have a contact number or address for him. I dealt with him in the spring.

There is also a company that will sell you after market spools at this link, but a better deal was had through Dick Swan.
