Shore Fishing-I am moving-Looking for the Good Spots!

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Shore Fishing-I am moving-Looking for the Good Spots!

Post by fishin-gal »

Well, it's been a long time since a post and unfotunately I havn't been able to get out fishing this season!! :(

I am moving next summer down by Lake Erie. Was just wondering if anyone could give me an idea of where I could find good SHORE fishing---and what I would be fishing for, around these areas----Port Burwell, Port Stanley, Long Point, Turkey Point, Port Bruce.

If this is any help, I am moving close to Tillsonburg.

Would be great if any one could let me know of any good shore fishing spots. I am looking for close to home as well as a few hours drive.

Any input would be appreciated!! :D Fishin-Gal

FishinGal, I live right beside TBurg and I'm always looking to meet a few new fishing partners. I get out occasionally and I'd be happy to show you the area.

What is your favorite kind of fishing? And for what? I know where most of them live. I can give ya an honest shot at them. :P

Hi Marcus!! Thanks for the quick come back!! By the look of the fish your holding, you have done some pretty serious fishing!!!

Well, my hubby is already down your way and I will be, there on and off all winter but hopefully be compltely moved by the spring.

You do live really close, thats cool :!:

We are both a little rusty in the fishing department but the last nice fish I caught was a 10 pound pickeral from the Rideau River here in Ottawa. Right now we don't have a boat so we will be looking at shore fishing for now. When you get out of the swing of things, like us, any kind of fishing is welcome!! Pickeral, pike, bass, perch---you name it!! And a good fight is always fun as well!! (with this fish, that is)

New fishing partners would be great!!!! Look forward to meeting!!!

Ice fishing is also another option.

This is sure a tall order. Hope you can help :!:

A 10lb eye out of the Rideau is true trophy! Well done.

I think you guys will be happy with the quality of fishing in this area. Lots of ice fishing to do too...mostly perch with the occasional pike.

There's lots of shore opportunities all around the bay. Maybe you guys could get together with Pink Lady and me this winter far an ice fish on the bay and we could set you up with a few shore casting spots and plan a few days on the boat too.

If you like Trout fishing in the creeks, the local tribs (Big Creek, Youngs and the Otter) are all seeing nice runs of big steelhead right now.

You're gonna love it. :P

Thanks for the invite Markus!!!! :D You and Pink Lady sound like really great people!!

Are ya sure you's can handle a couple of rusty ole buckets like us??

I think your right. I think we will enjoy them waters alot. Of course, any place by the water is a good place!! We may have forgotten alot of the how to's, so to speak, about fishing, BUT, we still have our tackle and then some. The trout fishing sounds great too, I wish I were there with my hubby.

Just from chatting a bit, something tells me your from Down East. Maybe Nova Scotia? If not, your kindness sure looks it.

Thanks for getting back!!! :D FishinGal

Fishin-Gal, I also live down that way and do lots of shore fishing. The thing about that area that I like is, when Lake Erie is too rough or windy, there are a ton of ponds with shore fishing opportunities for bass, crappies, pike or carp if thats your thing. The tribs are great too, and I know of some inland streams for resident trout as well.

Maybe I can show you a few of my favourite shore spots as well.. but don't get me wrong - Markus is the man.

In port bruce about 20 min west you can shore fish right off the break also someone told me ( never did try it) that at the end of the dead end road by the beach is ok too especially if you dont like to rub elbows with 30 other people mostly jumbos and some nice channel cats as well, oh yah under the bridge is good too.
