My First Brown

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

My First Brown

Post by Sherriff »

Went out for a few hours to try for a first species before the year was over. Got a nice one on and was trying to hoist it up without hitting any rocks. Ended up hitting my line on a sharp rock and it broke off. Bye bye first Brown and bye bye little cleo. Got it on a 2/5 blue little cleo.

I was pretty angry at my poor landing so I stuck it out for another hour and landed one finally.
Got this one on a 2/5 bright green little cleo.

Also, the one I lost looked similar, although was almost double the size and weight of this one and had a triangle cutout in it's tail. SO not sure if they were the same species or not.

Man it was cold. I am really happy so I thought I would capture my hairy but happy face.

Here is the crazy mess I was scaling just to try for a few fish.

By the way, this guy was released to fight again...I was also not sure what this fish was. Steelhead, rainbow or a brown. I had no idea. A friend cleared this up for me on OFN.

I am pumped about getting out again. These are beautful fish....

See ya

The rocks are a little challenging. The ice rink on top of each of the boulders is fun too. But the worst is the 6 foot deep holes between them.

Hey Donsans, ya we missed out this year but I am up for some ice for sure. Let me know. I need to learn about ice fishing and I am sure you have done your share.. I have been a few times but we mainly went out sleding.

What are ya, part mountain goat?!

I guess your determination paid off. Gorgeous fish.

Congrats on the catch and on not going into the drink.
