Meeting people off the net

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

The long cold days of winter are the best time to sharpen an axe to a wicked edge.

greymist that was one funny story I almost laughed until tears came to my eyes. It just goes to tell ya that you can't judge a book by its title. Hope to meet all you axe murders from fish-hawk.

Hitmanhill, I have a better one than that. This time FFF asks "do you want to go to Quinte and stay in a lodge for the weekend?" "A lodge, oh yes I like lodges" I reply, all the while visions of maid service, hot tubs dance through my head. We drive in the road and FFF says "This must be the place, here are all the boats on the road". "And where is this lodge?" I ask. "Down there at the lake" he retorted. Well I have a big look and all I can see is a row of ramshakle ice huts on concrete blocks that I thought they had pulled off the ice for the summer. He parks the pickup truck and it is pouring rain. "Wait here, I'll go find out where we are staying" he says as he runs up a flight of stairs which is nearly going to colapse. Back he comes and I ask "Did you get the key?" He looked at me and sheepishly replied that there were no keys. "Come with me, don't worry about your bag, I'll bring it in." he says as he comes round and opens the truck door for me. Just a side note to the reader - FFF has never been this nice to me, now I am really worried. He opens the door of the "ice hut" and I walk in. There is luggage already in this room. "Honey you have got the wrong place, someone already is staying in this room" I stated. "Oh did I forget to tell you we were sharing a room with someone else? "A room? We have closets bigger than this and we don't put two sets of bunk beds in them with 2" between each one and I have to sleep that close to someone I have never met before. What if they are perverted - where am I going to change - and where is the bathroom?" I replied in shock. "Don't worry honey - I know these people from the internet, they sound really nice, you will like them and oh the bathroom, it's outside about 400 yards down the lane."

I guess it is true, you get what you pay for. Those stories are keepers and you have definitely made me laugh today. Now did you catch any fish? I guess you lived to tell the tale so it couldn't have been all that bad. Thanks for the laugh!

This is a great thread!

I've had to go through the interigation twice when I was to meet up with Float this fall. Both times he was unable to make it (for good reason!) and i've had to spend the evening explaining that Kev is a good guy and that i may try hook up with him again. Most of the trouble was caused because she wanted to come and i said no because i was meeting up with someone.

I blame Oprah too. Maybe Dr.Phil a little -he's always reading into things too much.

Maybe we should have a guide in the "tips" section on how to break the news to your loved ones that you are going to meet some guy in the middle of the night in a dark parking lot. Or, "how not to appear like an ax muderer when you're waiting for somone's wife to drop them off".
Just a thought

I think my wife is particularly happy that I bought a floater suit this winter...now she can worry less about how everyone else drives a boat that I go on *LOL*

I don't think she's ever worried about axe murderers, more just the thought of me floatin down some unknown river because some dude has crashed us into some rocks...

Try telling your wife that you are going to meet a guy you met on the net who is actually a woman and she is coming to your trailer to go fishing with you and is bringing her kids and her husband :(

Ha-ha-ha, Gorf! I remember driving around looking for your place and trying to find you without knowing exactly who I was looking for!

This thread got me thinking....and I was trying to reverse the situation the other day and imagine how I'd feel if Brian got really into some kind of architectural forum or tool site, got to talking to a lass and arranged a meeting with her to hang out and talk shop. :? :!: Ha!!
