Over due report !

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Over due report !

Post by RE'TIE »

I'd like to start of by say'n a big thx to roxy and floatfishn for there awsome hospitality last weekend. Great times indeed :D
Second thx is to all the FH boyz on pietri island who made my wife and i feel very welcome indeed, also cutting a few holes for us and offering a warm place to get out of the elements for my wife after she got a soaker from standing in 6" of slush and water.
Bare with me boyz i only briefly met some in a quick word so kinda forgot some names

Well showed at Pietri a little late that friday a tad after dark and missed the walleye bite but still ventured after a minnow stop and to my suprise, being form warmer climate like bowmanville lol noticed alot of vehicles on the ice, also the thought of walking through a foot of slush and snow was nuts. Then i thought thank god i brought the jeep and of we went.
There was float navigating threw all the on ice condos looking for familiar pickup trucks. Float says "theres a truck..no theres a truck....no ....hey stop here" float gets out and starts yell'n. well i think he got everyones attention when all doors opened up lol. one thing forsure, he got us to where we were going. i think i got directions from steve s. thx ss.

out came the gear and some kind folk dropped us a few holes and lines went down. not to much going on by the means of fish but a few ling and cpl of small eyes but all good times. Kev had a really nice hit and lost a jig'n rappala and my tipup was slightly moving which thought was the wind but ended up being a small eye.
well it was getting cold fast and people started to leave so i ended up inside with wifey, float, spawn and canadian bacon. CB said theres and empty hole, drop a line,so down she went.all of a sudden float and spawn starts to get hits, no fish. so i got a feel'n in my stomach like a kid in a candy store.i missed a cpl of hits and placed my rod to rest when CB noticed my line flicker and slightly jig it, i grab my rod and not 3 secs lter "BANG" a nice 2+ lbs walleye. Way to funny,i was still in steelhead mode and fought it like a fresh fall runner..Thx CB :D
And after we left i was told the boyz got two more nice size eyes and a sturgeon. :P
The next day we all, kids in tow went to Crappie Bay but got a late start due to having to many beverages the night before lol. Ended up with zero fish and headed over to pietri for the dusk bite.
Winds were picking up really good and made it really tricky for tipups and my clam LOL couldn't get out of the seat or off she went.
Float was missing hits like crazy since he was still in steelhead mode also, but ened up with a cpl of small eyes ans sauger. Wifey ened up getting a nice eye at 1 1/2 lbs then packed it in due to the wicked wind and frigid temps. I myself being a cold blooded Brit stuck it out for a while longer, it payed off too, cause i iced three more nice 1 1/2 - 2 lbs and my first ling which i thought was another eye till it rappped it's freakin tail around my arm LMAO to funny. Ended up packing it in and said our goodbyes

Had an awsome time and thank all for them two days of good times. Hopefully well cross paths once again soon !!!!! :D

Hi Re'Tie,

I see we've got another member with story telling skills to rival that of old Float himself.

Great report, Re'Tie. Lots of fun! :D Sounds like the weather was something to be reckoned with, though.

How big was the sturgeon, by the way?

W.
Thanks, Dad, for taking me fishing when I was a kid.
