Boat brands?
Im thinking about making the big boat pruchase this spring. what brands of boats do you guys have? I want a fish/ski boat.
Im currantly looking at the legend 16 allsport. It is in my price range. Has lots of extras. But the stock 40hp 4 stroke seems small for the boat. please help me decide by posting your votes.
wish me luck.

Did you happen to go to the boat show in k-town at all? I know that Loughborough lake marina has a 16 foot crestliner (last years model) for around 11 grand. Comes with a 75 evinrude e-tec. I looked at it for a while, it was a beautiful fishing boat. Appearantly they make one of the better hauls on the market.

We've got a Crestliner "FishHawk", which in and of itself we are very pleased with. We've had it for about 5 yrs, I think. But as some of you know, it's grossly underpowered: currently matched with a 25 hp --and (tiller model) max rated for a 40 hp. We'll probably upgrade to a 40 hp very soon.teppy wrote:I would almost always get the maximum power for the rating of the boat.

Thanks, Dad, for taking me fishing when I was a kid.
Been running a Crestliner Fishhawk 1650 for 9 years now.
absolutely love it very economical on gas with a 90 hp Evinrude to power it. Brand new and no fishing equipment in it could get 43 MPH. now running full gas tanks and full load fishing equipment tops out at 38MPH by GPS. Have fished many tournaments and my fuel consumption compared to big Glass boats what they burn in one day I can fish 3 tournaments with.
Also very safe boat very wide beam and good depth.
Lots of room and can handle BIG water safely.
You don't need a big vehicle to tow those tinnies around either saving more gas dollars.
My recommendation whatever boat you buy MAX out your HP on your motor selection. It will save you lots of dollars down the road and give you the opportunity to get out of trouble quickly if caught in a quick developing storm, rough waters, high waves.

Had to vote "other brand". Only choices were aluminum. I've had both aluminum and glass, but glass is my personal preference. All the brands listed have their own particular qualities, and serve an individuals needs and budget as required. For the way I fish...(trolling is a 4 letter word for me
) I like my Ranger. And to be quite honest, with the price of alot of the aluminum boats being up there with the glass boats, not even considering they are basically the same weight (towing considerations) I'll take the glass dollar for dollar. But then again, that's just my personal preference.

yah i would consider that sure. The dealer in my area has one in the showroom with a 60hp 2 stroke on it. But i really want a 4 stroke. im thinking about upgrading the 40 4stroke to a 50 at least. it does cost a lot to upgrade the motors. But people say to do it from the start. it will cost more later down the road.

i have the 05 legend 1468 widebody now with a 25hp 2 stroke. But i find its just too small of a boat for big water. Plus we like to entertain and this style of boat is no good for that at all. Thats why im leaning towards the full windshild boat that you can convert to a fun boat in little time. And i still get a hell of a fishing boat to play with when the wifes not around.
