Shirley's Bay - Drifting Snow Hang-up - Blowing some Steam!!

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Shirley's Bay - Drifting Snow Hang-up - Blowing some Steam!!

Post by Braeside »

I admit I should not have gone out this afternoon. It was too cold, the wind as blowing too hard, the snow was drifting, and I should have known better.

Anyway, I'm heading off the Bay at around 5:30, and lets just say, I got stuck trying to get off at the landing at the Bay, behind some folks who were trying to get off too. In the end, if it wasn't for a guy with a 4X4 with contractors Ad on his back window - Mr. T with a 821-(something number), I'd still be there. I owe him a phone call and a load of thanks!!

There's more to this story than what's here. I'd really not like to thank the guys I was fishing with, and one of whom I've know for many years, for his lack of help, even after a couple of cellphone calls. I guess I should have known that Rye was a better friend.

Hey Brian,

should have went with your first gut feeling. When I met you at the grocery store in the afternoon you thought you weren't going to go because of the weather..

Next time..go with your gut :!:

A good investment would be a set of tire chains,a little to late now but next time you wouldn't have to worry.I got some at crapytire best investment for me,anywhere from $69.00 to $150.00 I hate pushing my vehicle out of snow drift glad I had em this weekend would still be trying to get off silver lake.no fish but got my 2wheel drive pickup off the ice with no problems at all, drove up the snow drifted ice covered ramp just as easy as 4x4's

Shirley's Bay and Blow'in off Steam

Post by Braeside »

Many thanks for the notes from all. WIG was right, should have given it a break and relied on my gut. If I had stayed in and watched Arena Football, I would have had a better fix (a few beer, some wings, munchies and would have given the dog a great walk). We're all a bit football silly at my place. :D

Unfortunately my best judgement was clouded by a beautiful sunny day...albeit too darned cold. Glad I didn't go to Muskrat and ran into the same thing an hour and some from home, and not knowing anyone up there. :)

Everyone take care.

Good thing it was at the grocery store and not the liquor store! LOL

Braeside...that does really suck. Guess times like those are when you find out who your true friends really are.

By the way IMHO you did go with your gut feeling, that IS why you went out there...the drive to go was stronger then the will to stay at home! Your gut feeling is not always right. LOL

Shirley's Bay

Hi there,

Should have stuck with my football gut... blue 41, 16 right, down, down --- right - or as translated - back up, go 4 feet right, lay low or down --- stay there - (on sofa, watch Arena football, enjoy yourself, make supper, and have a laugh with kids and wife).
