LeBarons

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

It is a great store but some of the people they hire apparently have no knowledge of anything. I have had some bad experiences.

Anyways like I said great store but apparently some employees need to go to school for a few years or something.

*I apologize if this was taken as a personal shot to any member of this board

Sorry to hear about the bad experience at Lebaron BBR.Geese that is so not like them
I've always enjoyed your show , at least you are doing it , and enjoying it.
With comments like you received it just goes to show that a little knowledge can be a bad thing

Don't fret it , just look where it comes from, learn from it.

Well, it beats going into a fishing store and showing the staff what you feel was a big fish and they one-up you, the customer...

A big fish is always in the eye of the beholder. We all go through stages in our fishing development. A 10" bass was once a nice fish for me too at one time, when I moved to Ontario from Alberta, the land of no bass.

Lebarons hires unskilled sales people at low wages and passes those savings on to you. When I go to lebarons, I know what I want before I go there, do my business, and get out.

The stores with knowlegable staff generally charge more, thats OK too, as long as the customer values that advise appropriately. Some customers don't.

:D I just have to add my two cents, when it comes to any store I expect to see a smile and competence.
I would not employ anyone at my store who did not have a clue just to save money.
Without the customers I would not have a store, so you can bet I am going to treat you well.
As a store owner I am always trying to pass savings on to my customers GUARANTEED!!!!!!!

I have some thoughts. I don't mind LeBarons at all and hae that they are moving from just around the corner. I consider myself quite knowlegable in fishing and generally don't need the assistance of someone when I am going in to buy a lure or line; I know what I want. If I was going to buy a GPS or Naviaonics, or perhaps an electric downrigger I might need help. I don't ned knowledge to open the Rapala case; I need a key. Rods and reels I research and know what I want. If it is to go Salmon fishing which I have never done and know very little about; well I have this site to find out from you guys what I need.

Also, I have been out of school for almost 10 years and when I was there they didn't offer a course on fishing equiptment. There isn't exactly a large pool of 16 year olds with strong tackle knowledge out there to hire. most people who are widely knowledgeable in fishing are those out of their teens; and most people out of their teens don't work for minimum wage. I would love to work there; am pretty knowledgeable (not much about salmon, or fly fishing; but I'd learn) But I highly doubt Don is going to fire 5 kids to supplement my salary. And as for someone talking out of their arse...well I am sure all of you work with one or five.

There are people who lack knowledge everywhere. If this was a quilting site we would all bitch about how Betty-Sue at Quilts R us doesn't know the difference between a HooHaw stitch and willo-willo overhand stitch. Fact is Lebaron carries the biggest selection and cheapest prices. Better than WalMart and Canadian tire! I think it is getting tired that everyone is always complaining. Don't go then! ... but where am I going to get this and that from....suck it up and quit the crying. We are not babies...

Scott

Edit: When I re-read BBRs post (as I didn't read the ending initially) I realized why this post was created...as a form of retaliation against someone calling his movie a waste of time who works at LeBarons.

I was in Manotick B&T just this morning and let me tell ya folks, she practices what she preaches. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by Baitgirl's big welcoming smile followed by Dan hooking us up with a big bag o' shiners and some advice on key spots to try for the crappies we were after. I'll continue to focus my spending in the smaller bait and tackle places who have the product knowledge and local scoop on fishing. Not to say I won't ever shop at LeBaron's again, I can't drive by a tackle shop without at least going in and "browsing"

Just saw some of your shows for the first time and enjoyed them. Just remember that a lot of great people were told that what they were doing was a waste time. Good luck to you.
