I'm currently organizing a introductory hands on workshop for a few of the new OFS members that have just turned to the dark side. LOL
If there are any other F-Hers in the Ottawa area that might be interested, feel free to drop me a note.
Cheers,
Todd

Lookin,
The whole idea came about because we've had a number of new members to the Ottawa Flyfishers Society that have never fly fished before and we thought a crash course would be a good way to start them off for the fishing season. We'd go over knots, leaders, fly selection, casting, line control, etc.
As of today I've only had one reply from my latest email to the interested OFS members. If it's just a hand full of people it might be as simple as just getting together one-on-one for a couple of hours.
As for your questions:
cost: FREE
date/time: TBD
location: I'm leaning towards Black Rapids, and people can wet wade in shorts and sandles there. (Not to mention that there's a Tims just down the road.
req'd equipment: fly rod and reel
Unfortunately I don't have a surplus of equipment, though I think everyone here will agree that once you pick up a fly rod you almost always convert to the dark side. LOL If you're shopping around for a starter kit, there are a number available. There's a Scientific Angler starter at LeBaron's, The Ovis Green Drake has an Orvis starter kit, and you can find an Okuma starter kit at Sports Action.
If you have any other questions just give me a shout.
Cheers,
Todd

Ed,
The weather has been throwing me a curveball as of late. Depending on numbers and people's availability it will either be on a weekend (half day) or weekday evening(s). Unfortunately my next open weekend isn't till June 3rd.

Todd,
I will not be able to participate this time, I am confident there will be other opportunities for me in the future. I am leaving town for 6 weeks on June 5 (contract work electrofishing in Puerto Rico) and the 3rd is to close to the departure. I will need some quality family time before I go, six weeks is a long time to be away from a 1.5 yr old!
Thanks,
Ed
