Excellent thread idea, Wolfe! Speaking of wolves :D my favorite animal is also the wolf (I have wolf paintings, books, sculptures, etc. all over the house) and, I'm a guy, so... there it is. :D I moved to Ottawa from Nova Scotia almost 11 years ago and am just getting back into fishing within the past year (currently working hard on getting my kayak rigged up). Let's see... I work in high-tech here. My wife and I were just married last August; we have two dogs (Siberian Husky and a Husky-Shepherd mix) and, in fact, we met each other at a dog park (Bruce Pit for the locals)!

I lurk a lot for now but love to read the stories here from all the great people on this forum. Once I start getting out more, I will become more active! But I have a lot to learn with all the new fish species in Ontario!

Hey.... :D welcome to the new posters and those who predominantly "lurk" and stepped up again to say HI. :D

So many interesting folks on this site with great stories to share.

WolfMan, our friend Wallyboss is another person into wolves. Right, Wallyboss? 8)

Not sure why I picked Fishface, I don't really look like a fish anyway.

Use to fish as much as I could as a kid, lost the interest when I was a teenager because I knew everything at that time. When I finally realized I did not know everything I decided to get back to fishing to learn all about it. Now, I enjoy getting out as much as I can, taking my son out to teach him the ropes and participating in various fishing forums to contribute and absorb all the info I can.

Thanks

Tough to say, I can only see her when I turn to the side.

No, she is much better looking than me and my son was fortunate to avoid the fish head syndrome....

Don't get on here like I used to. Margie, good to see you bring up this thread again. So motherly, yet you are the motherly influence this site needs. It is very interesting.

Hope to try to find my way down to Wolfe Lk someday. Would like to visit and talk atvs with the hubby.

Hiya Bill. Yeah, I guess I can be accused of being "motherly". That's my job, 24/7 after all. Why not here, too?

I remember enjoying this thread very much the 1st go round, quite some time ago. And it's just as enjoyable now...getting to know some people beyond just their (some times unusual) names. There's no shortage of friendly people on board. We're just getting acquainted!

Good to hear from ya; and YES, it would be nice to see you over the summer. We'll be at Wolfe several times throughout the season, especially now that things are a "GO" with the plans for a cottage. Drive has been started and construction is supposed to start within a week on the exterior.

Hope all is well. Best to the "Missus". You are both missed. :D

I can't belive that there is 1479 fishhawk people that has looked at this question and just over 80 people have responded. I personally think with all the different names that are out there that there is a story behind each and every one. Come on guys and gals, this isn't a root canal, you all must have something to share that is ineresting or just plain obvious, let us hear your story!!!! Wolfe, I have never met you but I think that to get to know people you have to go beyond the common ground to see what is behind a name. Come on people this spring has been brutal weather wise and I personally can't see people from this site out there that are enjoying the fishing season so far, so let us know, what's behind your "NAME". If nothing else, it will give us an idea of what you were thinking or maybe just a laugh, and isn't that what the world needs a little more of?

Fishboy just seemed to sum up this point in my life - I'm male and obsessed with fly fishing. I'm having a little trouble explaining the "boy" idea to my kids, both of whom are adults.......
Time's fun when you're having flies.

As a youngster ,an uncle of mine always had nicknames for the local kids. He once gave me a gentle body slam { hip to hip } & branded me the handle Slammy. I 38 yrs young, am self employed as as electrical contractor, have 2 adopted children 21 & 18 & a 6 year old of our own {11 years later}. The excitement builds with anticipation every outing ,as if it's the first time fishing,.....catching bullhead at the creek at home or trolling the B of Q, it's all great.

What a great topic!! It is the first time I ever see something like that, and how original. Thanks Wolf for bringing it up (AGAIN - I guess).

Well, DrB was formerly known as DrBriones, but it was too long, so had to change it.

There is not much of a story behind my nickname. I originally come from Mexico (been here 4.5 years) and was a surgeon and obstetrician there. That takes care of the Dr part of my nickname.

B is from my last name Briones, but I guess it is also the first letter of the fish species I like to fish the most (Bass).

I am 30 years old (will be 31 in one month), have a wife=best friend and 3 beautiful daughters (4 and 22 month old twins). Also have a bitch (female dog, don't think wrong).

So as you can see, being around 4 women, I try to find any excuse to go fishing as much as I can.

I started fishing 6 months after coming to Canada with my father. Since, I have been hooked on it and can't think of anything else to do (but my wife takes care of that). I have gone through 3 boats already (2 fixer-uppers) and the one I own now hopefully will last a long time.

I work as a Cardiac Technologist at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute performing stress tests (nuclear, treadmills, stress echos, drug induced and cardiopulmonary testing) for about 3 years now. I love my job, but also miss being a doctor (I guess that is as close as it gets for now)....So, if any of the "Ol' pharts" from this website ever needs a stress test at the Heart Institute, you know who to look for!
