A different type of fishing that has seen rewards been reaped by many. This forum allows us to learn more about Float and Fly fishing from those who have made it their number 1 way to fish.
I had the afternoon off, so a buddy of mine who is recently retired joined me for a little wading in the Ottawa River. My friend had never fished this part of the river and it was a real eye-opener for him.
We hit the water just after 1 pm and began fishing streamers along the eastern end of the islands at Champlain Bridge. We both hooked a few nice smallies in the 12" range. I went into the river on the Ottawa side and fished the rapids. It was fish after fish for about 15 minutes. At one point I was checking my line and my fly dangled in the water. A bass came right up grabbed it! I'm not sure how many fish we caught, but the best ones were about 14" and just over a pound....great fun on the fly rod.
We continued for until about 4 pm when we were petty much done in by the heat and humidity. Thank god the weather held out...I even got a little bit of a sun burn.
