Murphy' Point Weekend

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Murphy' Point Weekend

Post by Dartee »

Well

Got out to Murpy's Point PP this past week end for a little camping warmup/shake down before heading to Bonnechere.

Had planned on some fishing both Saturday & Sunday but not much happened for me anyway.
The site we had was good (flat, dry and shaded).. a little tricky with the boat trailer (had to drive in then manually swing the boat around) . Getting it out was careful operation. Thankfully I only had to do it twice (to unload and to reload camping stuff)
Took the kids out Saturday morning after breakfast , they got into the pannies and a few small bass but the wind came up a little on the strong side and put an end to that. So it was off to the beach for the rest of the day.
Sunday back out again with the kids, this time trolled around with worm rigs, loads of small bass to keep them happy (The large bass were trying to hide from the CFT boats).
My daughter out fished her older brother 10:1 which drove him nuts (he has very little patience). But he did get the big fish for the day.
What a gorgeous day..

Here are a few pics

Now if I could just get some of my own fishing in......

Great weekend by the looks of it! My wife and kids and I are heading up to Voyageur in a few weeks. Weren't any sites available in Murph'y the weekend we wanted to go! Seems to be great for fishing right off the docks at the boat launch. If i get dad's boat, which is ighly unlikely, we usually hit nobles bay, or the narrows. Great spots! This pics is actually taken on the dock there too

What a wonderful family trip, Dartee! Love the smiles on the kids!

That's a very nice bass for your son, but I'm kind of smug knowing your daughter outfished him... 8)

W.
Thanks, Dad, for taking me fishing when I was a kid.

Looks like a awesoem trip. The wife, my son and me have camped at Murphy's point 3 times this year and I never went fishing once! :(

Sucks not having a boat :) I'll try and fish from the dock next time we head out.

Cheers

Matt
Last time I was there, the my daughter was 10 months...it rained 2 of the 3 days, and cold the 3rd. Lots of mud. Only stayed since relatives who I hadn't seen in yrs were camping with us.

This time much better.

My son is at the age he thinks he knows and is better at everything . She brings him back to reality every once and a while.

The kids had such a blast that my wife is thinking about getting her licence now. She hasn't fished since she was a kid.
