I hear everyone saying you have to use Sutton spoons for Lakers. Hey whatever works
I too have a couple kiwifish lures in my tacklebox...silver and blue. Doubt I will be able to find flatfish before I head up next weekend. Those lures move like an SOB. Are there times you use other lures and under what conditions?
Scuro,
We use Flatfish for all conditions except through the ice,

. The ice makes it a little hard to troll, lol. I've tried different things, off and on at various times between early and late summer. Flatfish seem to be the only consistantly producing lure. It's a rare occasionfor me to go out and not return with a fish, unless it was really windy and the boat's nose was being blown all over the place.
Hell, Tim and I were letting our lines out to continue trolling just after he caught his rainbow, and a bass hit my flatfish just floating there on the top of the water, not movin or nuttin'. I caught 4 bass trolling that day, and the weird thing was I was in no more than 5 - 10 feet shallower water than Tim just due to that I was facing the outside of the lake because I was the Cap'n.
Give the Kwikfish a toss. Be real slow on the retrieve, or troll it, less that 2 MPH. Usually being a speed junky, this is one time that I thanked the lord for convincing my dad to buy a 2 HP engine that could idle slower than me walking.
