Barron Canyon

Post by JVE »

My wife and I went up to Algonquin to paddle the Barron Canyon this past weekend with serval friends. If you have never canoed this stretch of the Barron river, it is well worth it. The cliffs are very impressive - if you can't paddle it, then the hike is well worth it. While you are on the Barron, it is well worth to portage down to the Cascades. The SM bass fishing is very good. I lost count as to how many SM I caught - top water or trolling. Lots of SM in the 14-15" range. Of course the Brookie trout fishing is also good if the have to time to portage out to some of the remote lakes - to much for just a weekend paddle.
