Big Creek or other Tribs near London

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Big Creek or other Tribs near London

Post by MrJams »

New to the board - great forum.

I'll be in the St. Thomas/London area in two weekends and I'm considering checking out Big Creek in Delhi for the fall salmon/steelhead run. I'll be fly fishing.

I've never been there before - does anyone have any suggestions recommendations as far as places to start? Fly patterns? Tackle shops in the area where I might get tips?

Also, any other more productive rivers in the area? I'm not looking to stray too far from the area (hour at best).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you should try www.longpoint.on.ca someone there will be better suited to help you out. The Bayfield river is about 45 minutes north of London. In 2 weeks there should be a healthy run of both salmon and steelhead up in the Clinton area. Try egg sucking leeches, stone nympths or worm patterns. In the faster runs I have great success using single egg patterns.I am sure the same would work for big creek and the otter as well. The bayfield and Maitland also hold alot more fish than any of the erie tribs.
