Does anybody know any good spring pike spots that I might want to check out on Charleston lake. I've never fished out that way before, so if someone could help me get started that would be great.
Is there any other lakes I might want to check out in the same area as well that also provied good pike fishing
Never fished that area, but if you ever happen to end up in the Montreal area I'd be more than happy to get you on to some Lake St Francis toothy ones.
I've chased a lot of pike up in the Gracefield area as well (31 Mile Lake and others in that region) and would be happy to share the where abouts of a few weed beds with you.
first off, welcome Chris Wetzel to the Board. secondly i'm sure somebody will help you out! i'm from ottawa, so unless you want to drive an extra 1 hour a 45 minutes, i can't help you out. i've never fished charleston lake, but i fish red horse lake often. all you need to do once pike opens in may 07 is find a weed line and grab a white buzz bait or booyah spinner bait and cast to the weed line or parallel to the weed line. hopefully that helps you out. you can always find them near weed cover!! good luck and again welcome to the board.
Thanks guys for the warm welcome! Hopefully I'll find out some answers in the next couple of months. If I find out anything about Charleston I'll let you guys known as well.
I fish the Kawartha Lakes quite a bit, I'm still have lots to learn, but I'm getting there. If anybody has any questions on where to fish, I might be able to help you out.
I also have a cottage on Kashagawigamog in Haliburton, which I now pretty well. I might be able to help out there also.
Hey Chris, i have a cottage(well Parents do lol) on Charlston. the spring pike is great out there. in around loon Bay and also websters Bay are both great due to the large shoals and bowls in the middle. if u like you can pm me any Qs u might have. i tend to dropshot minnows backtrolling around the shoals and that produces most of the time but u cant go wrong with a 3 leaf colerado spinnerbait either
Welcome aboard Chris
I don't fish Charleston much in the early spring before Lakers open but my father in-law hunts for pike as soon as the season starts.
As jtown said Websters and loon bays can be good spots. The lake is deep and cold so the best bet are the shallower areas that warm up 1st . Look at Sally's hole, Leeders creek, Flat island and down in the southern waters near the outlet. These are areas were the depths are in the 10-20ft range and tend to warm up first.
