Hi Fish-Hawk-er's,
Been folllowing a few posts on this board latley and thought I should post my latest adventure with my Neighbour and his Dad, but first, the lead-in. I have a cottage on White Lake, boat access only. It's not on an island, but on unaccessable-main shore. We hoofed it in 3.5KM from the nearest accessable road to the cottage. My Neighbour forgot his glasses their over the past deer hunting season and we thougt it would be fun to trek the terrain to retreive the spec's. My Neighbours father is in from B.C., recently suffered a heart attack, and put me to shame, 4-1 breaking the trail. I'm 34. Fantasitic recovery I must admit. Anyway, I can see Pickerel Bay from my cottage, and the water is wide open. In fact, I think I can still launch the boat from the lodge! Take Care fellow Fisher folk! Weird season this year.
Mike.
Howdy Folks: White Lake Trip
I stopped and did a survival suit ice thickness check yesterday at three mile bay area and the ice was not bad 4-6" until you got out in the middle and then it was blak ice and 2-3 " at best....needless to say we avoided that area .
Dropped a line for about 1/2hr and then packed it in, again it was just an ice thickness check with survival suits.
We did see a couple guys ice fishing off a point about 100 ' from shore .
The ice we were on was only over 4 ' of water and as we moved deeper the ice got thinner
