If these punks were kids then you will never get a confesion out of them...Unfortunatly when you grow up in small towns like ours trouble is a pastime...BTS is one of those your sons shack by grasshopper point??? Are there not some full time residents who live at the shore line right there??? Tell ya what..You tell me the description of the kid and I will pretend to have fished there that evening and saw these kids driving around. There is a witness for you....

...My shack would have been right beside those if it made it on this year. Thank god I did not put it out his year...What a shameless act.

I would say you let your son and his gang of friends that fished the derby with you, take care of the problem the old fashioned way... Or let them act is interrogators, to get one of the punks friends to rat him out...

And to possible avoid BS from this happening in the future.. Do not leave any gear in your hut, and do not Lock it..... Same thing happened to my dad's hut a few years back....Once he started leaving it unlocked.. no more problems...

I do have a glimmer of hope that one of these 4 spineless invertebrate's is as solid as a soup sandwich and rolls over on the other 3....and amongst themselves they will administer there own form of justice.......in da form of a good 'ol beatin'!!!!!!!!!!!

IMO the talk of violence is out of place. I understand that tempers are extremely high and I expect that people are using the language figuratively. Threatening to brutalize the vandals is not helping to get a confession.

Ufortunately Almonte its not just small towns where trouble is a passtime, I live in Barrhaven and kids are constantly doing this stuff, I wonder everyday I go out if there is going to be some kind of vandalism to my boat or car. It is the way things are now with the lack of punishment. These kids know nothing will happen to them, thats why they do it. Just go to you tube and type in vandalism in Barrhaven and look at the video put on there by my neighbour across the street. He has 5 cams on his house because it is constantly being vandalized by kids who live down the road. We all know its them but with no absolute proof the police say they cant do anything. The interesting side note to this is one of the kids fathers is a cop.

I know its wrong but if anything happens to my stuff I know where they live and their stuff will become a target, if the cops cant help well sometimes you have to take matters into your own hands! YaYa two wrongs dont make a right and all that I know, but this stuff is just getting worse and worse so if all other options dont result in anytihng then I say fight fire with fire!

Let the opinion bashing and moral lessons begin!

Yup, I agrre with those who think you should try to get the "weakest" or least likely to be guilty one in the group to roll over on his buddies. Usually there is at least one in a group that is a follower and fears getting into trouble with the cops. A mild threat to call them on him and that may be your answer...providing you know who the other ones are.

My beef with this is, Where in the heck is the parents????? Who has control of these kids? Man if these were my kids there is no way in hell they would be out at that time of the night. I beleive that the parents should be held responsible for any financial damages that their out of control, unsupervised kids inflict on the private property of others.

When I hear stories of this, why does the incident of that kid at Petrie that went through the ice come to mind?

Kid unfamiliar with the area, 1:15am.....

There are shacks at Petrie....

Who knows, who knows......maybe those shacks were spared by some divine powers from some fish god who appreciates catch and release.
