Bennett lake

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

When I was young I fished it all the time. My uncle owned about half the lake and now his son owns it...There are launches on the lake and one is in Gillespie's Camp and cottage. That is the place my uncle owned and his son ownes now. His name is Ken. There used to be walleye when I was a kid and bass etc but now I do not know what is left.

Can the lake handle a 50 horse, or is it canoe depth?

bennet lake is very deep and quite suitable for a larger boat. There is also no public access to it.

Bennett lake is completely private! I have a cottage there and am an active member of the Bennett lake cottager's assoc. There are access ramps at a few of the resorts, however they are for cottage owners and resort guests ONLY. All the roads surrounding the lake are clearly marked as "PRIVATE". As far as the fishing goes,...Your not missing much. In the last twenty years the fishing has dramatically declined. The bass are plentiful but

The walleye too are in decline. The Walleye that are there can be very difficult to catch due to extremely heavy fishing pressure and an over-abundance
of bait fish. The pike aren't even worth fishing theyre so small. It's the best Bluegill lake around though. 12" 1lbs Gills are common.

It'll cost you 5 bucks to launch at a couple of the cottage rental businesses. Walleye fishing can be excellent, if it is slow there are largies, smallies and pike to keep you occupied.

Swamp-Donkey..you are quite an ambassador for the area

Let us know how you do.

Thanks for the compliment, I am merely stating facts. Similar to your original post. All access to the lake is private.

Sorry guys I always had access from my uncles area so I thought that it was public access...My bad. I guess I was spoiled when I was a kid. I do know that the lake has died off a lot since the 80's. So everywhere is private huh. Well I was planning a fishing trip this year to Bennett so I may need to ask my uncles son if I can use his launch.

There's a launch available for a fee at Ennis trailer park. The fishing can be slow at times but if you hit the right spot at the right time............

Thanks for the information Fishhit, This issue will definately be raised at the next cottage assoc. meeting. We were all assured that this "public access" would be ceased immediately.

Sounds like a honey hole, Sheesh I am a catch and release fisherman who may have travelled there once in a lifetime. With hospitality like that though.... Mabye I should set up the largest mica mine in Canadian history and expropriate some land for mineing rights.. Just kidding.... touchy perth subject...

What a tight lipped little community... I am a catch and release firsherman who wasn't going to clean out your lake.... But since your so hospitable maybe canada's largest mica mine is in order for the shores of Bennet....I would check the mining rights clause of your deed.

I hate the privatization of OUR waters

Yo Donkee, take a pill. While your at it pull that broomhandle out of your rear end and slow down or you'll have the whole place swept in no time at all. Be sure to ask at the meeting when I last launched there. The water is public but all the surrounding land is private so I guess that you own the water and all the fish and all the land. Be sure to let the fuedal Lords of Bennett know that this spring I'll be there to steal from the rich and give to the poor. Speaking of poor, your attitude sucks. People like you make poachers look like friends of the enviroment. You sir, make me sick.
Just my opinion, at the rate things are going thats all anyone has left to give.
