Some how, some where, we have all benefited from someone's posts with great details. In fact, its part of the game when fishing tournaments to research all the data available.
Here's a good example, Bay of Quinte Walleyes.
So how many of us would have figured out BOQ on our own? Be truthful, not many. That being said, can the BOQ support the increasing pressures??? I doubt it.
I know I don't have the answers.
It use to be articles in Outdoor magazines, today it's public boards.

Great Topic and very interesting thoughts from everyone on it. Here are my 2 cents. I am a new boat owner and fairly new to fishing. I have a soon to be 8 yr. old and a 10 yr. old. (both boys). Oh yeah, the boat is a 14ft. tinny with a 9.9h.p. Both of my kids are extremely enthusiastic fisherman. However, they are kids so, its important for them to catch some fish to maintain the excitement that they have every time we go out. Bass, pike and panfish are high on the list for them because they can cast for them. One hour of trolling is about all they can handle. I would never ask the name and location of someone's honey hole but, there must be lakes out there that have good stocks of small fish that my catch and release kids would'nt ruin. I have purchased the backroad books but it would be nice to have some first hand knowledge of some bass or pike lakes lakes that would produce some excitement for the kids. They don't care if it's only a 1/2 lb. bass. They are kids and any fish is a hoot for them. Would it be wrong of someone to name a lake or two that would allow my kids to have some fun? I don't think so. Would it be wrong of me to ask for the names of some of the special lakes that you have found through hard work or local knowledge. Yes I think it would be wrong of me to ask. Man oh man how is that for seeing both sides of a topic. Anyway, we have about a 2 hr. driving limit to find our honey spots so if you see a blue Sienna pulling a wc 14 lund and the driver looks lost well chances are that I probably am.

Good discussion. I'm new to the site and a fairly young and inexperienced fisherman. I really appreciate the site's contents and the helpfulness of the people who reply to my and other people's questions. It's nice to hear of new lakes to fish but I totally understand if people don't post that kind of information. This site is one of the many ways I learn about different fishing techniques and strategies. I would always prefer learning new techniques on the water but... I can't do that from work
.

>yes sir..find a weed bed...... anchor....... start fishing with bobbers and a hook..
let the the panfish and kiddie fun begin...
and you don't even need a boat...
the launch you use has them around

Hey Marcus, I know there are people that will take advantage of everything.
You know as much as you wish or I wish we could control this the only person we control is ourselves. If there are people that take advantage of this site, that is very sad.
Can anyone control that, NO! if you want a public site and people to contribute information and to share information there will always be unfortunately people out there that take advantage of this information but I still feel there are a majority of people that just enjoy the read for what is posted and are glad for the opportunity to see how someone in the group has done. I personally think that is what the site is for, to share fishing stratigies, post outings, and hopefully enjoy everyones experiences.
. What people do with this information I would hope is to encourage other people to share and respect each persons report and make comments on what you feel would be helpful and not hurtful to not only this site but to the whole fishing enviroment.

You're 100% right Hitman.
That's why I've put certain "controls" on myself.
I have seen first hand what over exposure can do to our resourses. I know a lot of folks got off in the direction that "poachers are lurking". That's not a concern of mine. My concerns are 2 things. 1-Fishing preasure and 2. Laziness. Too many takers and not enough givers. People have forgotten what fishing is.
Like you said, it comes down to what you want to do. I chose not contribute to adding fishing preasure and I chose not to help those that are too lazy to do a little legwork on their own.

Just my take on things.
Please explain the difference with the last email.

You're correct Beeman. My actions in the past did inrease lurking, site traffic and in the end...fishing preasure. In the past, I always felt that everyone should be out and enjoying the fishing opportunities. While I still believe that everyone should be....I have have since learned the difference between fishing and catching.
I've seen the lurker stats here. Too many people are taking shortcuts. Too many, weather intentional or not, are taking the lazy approach and coming to public message boards for others to map out their weekend plans.
Reports are fun to read. People like them. Reports can be done though without selling the farm.
