Princecraft vs Lund
Princecraft vs Lund
Okay folks, I think I've got it narrowed down to a Lund 1625 Classic side console VS a Princecraft Starfish DLX side console. Any pros or cons with either of these boats or manufacturers would be greatly appreciated. If you think you may offend the webmaster with replies then please PM me with your input. Thank you all. I did post this on the boat and motors forum but the fishing forum gets way more hits. If you guys dont want this post on this forum because it has nothing to do with fishing then I'll remove it.

Both are great boats and top notch manufactuers, it will come down to your personal tastes and preferences of each boat.
Personally I fish from a princecraft, just a little better fit and finish in the last couple of years in IMO. But I am a Princecraft Pro as well
Just as a side note, you should price a 165 SC with a 40 Merc.... with the insentives for the boat show season they actually come out at around the same cost as the starfish DLX but you get an 84" beam vs. 73" beam, better console and instrumentation, increased storage and hingless seats.
I sold several at the Toronto Boat show that went out the door for under $19,000 taxes and everything included.

While I have owned a Princecraft in the past and loved it, I would say the Lund is a better built boat. I know this will ruffle a few feathers but there construction is very strong and the new IPS hulls really work well. There may be few more bells and whistles on the Princecraft for the same dollar, but I am only talking about the construction of the hull. I would not hesitate to buy either boat if I was looking for another aluminum boat.
One other thing is the Princecraft is made in Canada, the Lunds are no longer made in Manitoba, they are all made in the States now. It is nice to see our money stay in Canada sometimes.

I have owned and fished both models. Currently I run a 1625 Classic tiller. Both are excellent boats. Very stable and with the max HP on the back, they scoot right along.
I went to the Lund this time for the little things that make life easier on and off the water.
Carpeted sides, more storage, Sport Trak mounting system, Sport Trak cover, easier rod storage/placement.
Both are great boats.

Like everyone else I think both are good boats. I own a Lund based solely on the fact that the Lund dealer I dealt with seemed to be interested while the Princecraft dealer didn't have time to unwrap a 35k boat for me to look at.
That made my decision easy. I have had my Lund with 90 HP FICH Evinrude for 7 years now and have had no problem with either. Still get correspondance from the dealer and they still say Hi at the boat shows.
After sale service is almost as crucial as the boat you buy. Keep that in mind. No fun having a boat if you can't get it serviced when needed.

I own a Starfish DLX Back Troller. I got it 5 years ago.
I know people like side consoles but I find I get more control with the BT. In any case, there is no need to compare Lund to Princecraft. It would be like asking if Mercury is better than Honda, you'll end up with opinions and preferences. They are both good boats. In my case, price was the decisding factor. At the time of purchase, I got more boat for the dollars I had with a Princecraft (for my needs).
You know what? One of them is tempting you just a little more than the other... go with that one. You don't want to wish you got the other one for the next few years... at this price, treat yourself, AND, max out the HP on whatever model you get. I got a few HP less and now ant to upgrade to MAX out the HP. GO TO 40.
mm
By the way, I love my boat.

Lund or Princecraft
I have a 1650 Rebel dual console which is pretty close to the 1625 classic. I also looked at the Starfish. Ultimately it came down to price and I bought a new 2005 last fall. Okay the Honda motor helped as well. Both are great boats.
If you go Princecraft take the advice someone offered earlier and consider the wider boat. 76" is okay but 84" would be just a little nicer.
I heard Pirate Cove in Kemptville advertising a 4 day sale, I assume this weekend. They sell Lunds among others.
