Sturgeon Lake - Walleye Opener

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Sturgeon Lake - Walleye Opener

Post by gordy28 »

Hey there
Heading to Sturgeon Lake for Walleye Opener
Haven't fished the lake for a few years and even then it was primarily for Bass

Any tips - Have checked out the Walleye locations in the map project and they will definitely make the list just wondering if anyone has any other tips
Plan on trolling weed edges, fishing some of the river and creek mouths (Emily and entrance into the locks)
Rip jigging? Live bait
Any help appreciated
Thanks
Gordy

i fish that lake for walleye twice a week and consistantly have good luck in the small bay north of the snug harbour marina make sure your tight to the weed edge it swings around from the channel into shore, from the northt point of long beach all the way north down to the bog along the weed edge and anywhere along a weed edge in goose bay durign early season. forget trolling get a black and white hair jig and youll be throwing them off either side of the boat and in the livewell if thats what your looking for :D
