Rideau Lakes question

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Rideau Lakes question

Post by surge7264 »

Five of us will be staying at Pine Glen Lodge on Clear Lake from May 17 through May 22. Which of the Rideau Lakes in that area is best for pike fishing -- Clear, Indian, Newboro, Upper Rideau, Opinicon.......or somewhere else? Any and all replies (without giving away all your secrets) are greatly appreciated.

Haven't fished Indian or Clear, but we have caught pike in Opinicon, Newboro and the U-Rideau. There are just so many lakes in that area; you'll be like a kid in a candy store.

I fish the Rideu plenty and if its Pike your looking for go to the lower Rideu in Beverages Bay right by the Merrywood easter seals camp and troll between the two points, you WILL NOT be dissapointed :D :D . Im heading out there on the 12th for Pike opener, so far every year for the past 6 (this is how long Ive lived in the area) we have not had a day that didnt produce at least 15 or more fish 15 being a bad day. But if you dont know where to go you might catch nothing!! Although this Lake is populated by many cottagers and is quite busy this bay produces a lot of Pike. Hope this helps

Surge,

I would stick with Lower Rideau as already mentioned. If it so happens that they vanished while you are there. You can always go to the numerous bays along the Big and Upper Rideau to find some of those toothy creaters.

Good luck and let us know how you make out.

Pete
