muskie trolling rod under $100

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

muskie trolling rod under $100

Post by 1MoreCast »

I am in the market for a new trolling rod. Which rod for the $ would be adequate for the task.

The St Croix Triumph is in the range you are looking for, although I'm not sure the requirements needed to troll for musky. Also Okuma make a musky rod that I think is in that price range, but for the life of me I can't remember what it is like. I will be in the store tomorrow (boat in the shop-no fishing) if you want to give me a call

Ive used a StCroix Premier 7' for a few years now, works great for trolling all except th e really big baits. The Triumph by StCroix is effectively a Premier but assembled in asia. I think a Triumph would suit your needs nicely.

Does this mean we can finally get to do some trolling "Mr. Can we do a little castin'"?

I'd go with what mat suggested...

Muskie Combo

Post by Seaweed »

You might want to check out Bass Pro Shop.

I have two of these combos and they suit my muskie needs just fine.

Bass Pro Shops® Pete Maina Signature Series Baitcast Rod and Reel Combo
http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/store ... 00_100-3-1

You can get them for $149

Another nice thing is that you can mix and match them with different rods for different purposes.

Thanks for all the info on the rod. I currently have two compre's and did not know if anything else for the price would be better for trolling.

(May 8th) I just checked the Shimano web site and found a compre trolling rod. Now I have to decide on what to do

Thanks
