Hey folks,
I think we need to be careful here that we don't sterotype fishing shows. I don't know first hand, but I have also heard of such things. I don't beleive this happens very often, but again, I don't have first hand knowledge of this. There are some great shows out there that I watch every Saturday, and others that I watch just becuase......well just because it is fishing I suppose. Let's make sure we don't discredit legitimate shows that really do provide good education and great entertainment.

This story should answer most peoples questions.
I dont believe that the MNR or such agencies would stand by, while fish are caught on a line and hook, then rereleased on another line and hook, only to be dragged into the boat again. It just doesnt make sense.

I think the only show you can be almost possitive about is the tournament coverage. I watched an episode of the CFT series this past weekend and the camera was rolling the whole time. No cuts, therefore no edits! They were catching smallmouth on the tour in the Lasalle area. (Free on Rogers 100) It was a pretty good show. Those guys were all working really freaking hard for every pound and ounce they could catch! When you watch those tourney guys fish for 3 days straight and catch a total of 17lbs per day, it is definately more realistic! In contrast to others where the guys are pulling 5 pounders out by the truck load on their own signature lures in a one hour show which we are made to believe has occurred in one day on a body of water that many viewers have fished with no where near the same fortune! lol
With that being said, I still enjoy the shows and on occasion the tips they provide are indeed really helpful!

I feel like I am 12 years old all over again and finding out that the WWF wrestling is FAKE!
I always assumed the fishing took place over a few days or they went to sweet spots in remote areas to catch a great deal of large fish.
The one thing that does pee pee me off is the whoring of hosts in order to push certain products. Roland Martin is one of the abolute WORST although he almost makes it seem natural.
I like shows like "The Scott Martin Challenge" or "Beat Charlie Moore" because they are more dynamic.
As an aside, both Kevin Van Dam and Rick Clunn creep me out. And Iacoanelli is a spaz.
