gill nets found in kingston

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Drove by the bridge today and the markers are out again,
so the nets have only been reset.

HMM,

I took out four nets last year on the Ottawa River, Plain and Simple if there no name on it it comng out period. I lost a motor to those stupid net and I can promise one thing this year.I'm going to beat 4 pull outs this year. So anyone know where there a nest out there let me know. I'll get it out period. Those MNR are plain lazy period. Don't call them at all. Do what best for you and the fishing area you're in, If everyone does this life would be so easy for all of us.

Now this might be a dumb question but why even put nets out if you do not check them every few hours...You can not sell dead rotting fish to anyone. So do these nets cross over rivers and streams to block the path of the fish or just out anywhere to catch them randomly??

Hi Mike,

I am quite distressed to be reading about gill netting in the Kingston area...I have attached the thread from the fish forum I am a member of called Fish-Hawk.net.......I am trying to get the exact location....please read the thread from link below and other members in your zone may know where these nets are.

http://www.fish-hawk.net/hawktalk/viewt ... sc&start=0

My O.F.A.H. membership# is xxxxxxx and phone# is 613-832-xxxx

Please let me know what actions OFAH can provide to start the ball rolling with this senseless act? If the poachers are natives, why are they letting the fish rot for weeks??

Last time I went out in that area the nets south of front rd. had been destroyed, but the ones on the north side were still there!!! The MNR has known about the nets for at least 3 weeks now  The worst part is that the nets are a five minute walk away from the Kingston MNR office

What this all about, Mafia BRING IT ON BOYS. I'm with OPP and Ottawa Boys even better I have my own MAFIA RING try me. :D This motor cost me 750 dollars. I can promise one thing, it will not happen again period. I mean period. Unless those stupid Net are put away from me I'll be happy period. Even better I have my right to protect the fish and the enviroments. So I'm not afraid period. Even better just have a name on it and it confirm (EASY READ INFO) I'll can promise one thing I'll not touch it. Have a great day guys.

I talked to an MNR enforcement officer today. He said they inspected the nets. They are hoop nets, registered and legal. :( :x

On a serious note here, I really hope that this gets attended to by the proper authorities, not with "vigil anti" justice that just gets out of hand at times.

This is really a shame no matter if they are legal or illegal. Every year we read about these types of things happening, and it doesn't seem to be getting any better. I know the MNR doesn't have the resources they truly need in order to police the waters, but when I hear these things, even if they are legal, I really don't understand it at all. I really wish there was someone who could enlighted us all on what this is all about and why it is allowed, when the average angler gets nailed and accused of fishing out our bodies of water.

I'm at a loss for words really. I wish I understood more about this.
