Fishing for carp near Orléans

Post by Jabba »

I live in Orléans, and can't fish from a boat. Are there any good carp spots nearby (max. of 45 min.) where i can fish from shore? Also, what are the best baits to use?

They used to come in front of the Baitshop at Petrie but me and Joco saw that the entrance to that bay has been blocked by a beaver dam. Not sure where else around Orleans that holds Carps.

Carp near Orleans

Thanx, Boss,

The carp fishiung doesn't have to be in Orleans. Anywhere within 45 min. drive, that can be fished from shore would be fine.

-rideau falls
-above the falls at hog's back park
-below the locks at the ottawa river/rideau canal junction

...if you're willing to drive for 45mins, why not drive an extra 20 and go to long sault on the st. lawrence?

Jabba,
Try Black Rapids Locks off of Prince of Wales and at Dows Lake.

try above or below alonzo-wright bridge in gatineau on gatineau river. You can find several spots just by zooming in on google maps - then drive by and park where you see cars. One favorite of mine is just past Metro store on rue St Louis - look for parking nook on the left...

I use worms and catch lots of carp there, although i guess you can target them with corn niblets. With worms i get lots of catfish, some bass and walleye, and even sturgeon (got my first one the other day - what a fight that was with 15lb test  )

I must say that after discovering Gatineau river (thanks some posts on fish hawk), i wont go to any other spots on ottawa or rideau!

hi frankal..

you got that right.

that spot where you fish on that point and that place just a bit higher on that rock below the dams are great for walleye hunting.

there is a lot off snag..there.. :x ..but its worth it.

i remember catching a LOT off fish there and i was post to the farmers dam not far frome there.

the gatineau is good all over frome gatineau to maniwaki.

they have been puting some brown trout all over in that river...and i have seen a cople browns caught under that bridge(alonzo)...but in high water,,be carefull a lot off curent there if you go wading. .

i did my best walleye fishing and sturgeons fishing on the gatineau nere bouchette.

hope to see you around..

joco :)
