Tubing/water toys question?

How do I know what the correct tow rope lenght is? I know that it can not be any longer than 60' and not shorter then 50'. But is there a optimum length to pull a single person on a tube?

Reason that im asking is we curratly have a 60' rope that is conected to the transome eyes of the boat. The Rope drags and even at speed it causes water to spray up and into your eyes and face.

Would a shorter rope cause less drag? Or is it just a matter of getting the rope higher on the boat. My dealer sells a ski pole for this. But its not cheap at around $400[/i]

I baught myself a 3 section rope....so that way you got a rope to tow skies and tube and all......dont have to have multiple ropes.

I think the tube rope should be the 50ft. The rope that came with the tube we have is a 50ft and the ski rope I have is a 60.

I noticed that if you buy a tubing rope (ie for ting onto the water toy) it is shorter the the ski rope.

An option would be a tow bar (slightly more expensive)

Have spent many days on a wakeboarding boat with a full tower I think the only way to get the rope out of the water for tubing to to get it up higher.

Even when we attach to the low tow point on the boat (not the tower) for a skier its fine cause they hold the rope up, but when we use the tube, it drags in the water.
