IF YOU HAD A CHOICE...FLASHER OR AQUAVIEW

Post by almontefisher »

Hey all: I have a few questions for anyone...if you had a choice of either a flasher or Aquaview what would you choose...question 2 do they both work for ice fishing. I know the flasher does but what about the aquaview...Question 3...can you troll with the aquaview attached to the downrigger??
Thinking of going with the aquaview but I like the idea of being able to find fish icefishing...If the aquaview works icefishing then decision made I think

Thanks in Advance

I would chose a Flasher first, but I have both. My first year with the camera this year.

I chose the flasher because it is a lot faster.

My vote is for the flasher. these units can also be mounted to the boat. I have yet to really use a camera. I think the first use for them was to ice fish? Now they are starting to make units that attach to your boat.

I have both, and they each serve a purpose. If I had to choose just one for ice fishing it would be the flasher, but sometimes the Aquaview provides a different perspective on what is below depending on water clarity. The Aqueview can be attached to your downrigger.

Peter....from what I'm reading here..the flasher works best for ice fishing...which over the past couple of years has been a duration of maybe 2 good months of ice conditions..  ...not sure how many people have Aquaviews, but in my mind, I would rather buy a camera to use 7-8 months of the year instead.....specially on clear trout lakes such as the one that your cottage is on and other numerous clear water trout lakes within your area!!!!!

I have both and use both for ice fishing. Each can do things the other cant, for example I like the camera for crappie fishing because you can actually see the fish bite where as with out it there are times when they bite so light you would never know otherwise. One thing the camera cant do that the flasher can is see the whole picture under you. You can see fish suspended, on bottom etc. With the camera you basically can only see so far at one time.

Im kinda with the other guys .. bought my flasher last yr. but was having problems with my presentation .. so this year I picked up an aqua-vu ... which should fix that ...
I plan to use both this year ... down the same hole, using the aquavu in the "down looking position" and the Vexilar to look to the fish coming in from the fringes (where the camera can't see)
It will also be nice to see just whats down there, for a change.
