Lowrance LCX-27C vs LCX-25C?

Post by 1lastcast »

Alright Lowrance fans. I have a question for ya.

Searching around the net I have found a site selling a LCX-25C for a couple hundred less than the LCX-27C. I can't seem to find the 25C on Lowrance web site. So im guessing that the 25C model is just a older version of the 27C? Am I right in thinking this? Can anyone tell me of any real big difference in the two units? If I can save some cash then I'll purchase the 25C!

You are correct,
The LCX-25C is an earlier version (2005) of the current model LCX-27C.
These units are very similar 480x640 resolution 7" Diagonal screen, they use the same transducers etc.
Where they differ is that the LCX-27C utilizes the newer LGC-3000 GPS Module (the LCX-25C uses the LGC-2000), the LCX-27C uses the newer NMEA 2000 red network connections (the LCX-25C uses NMEA 2000 blue network connections), the LCX-27C is Radar capable and has a Ethernet expansion port.

That's about all I can think of right now.
When buying these especially on line be very carefull that the price includes all the items you require. It is very common for retailers to sell just the head unit without transducer and in a lot of cases without the GPS antenna module. Also beware of warranty issues, the warranty on these units is time sensitive and I have seen guys running into difficulties getting warranty on older models.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you need additional info
