ICE DERBY EVENT

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

the reg as the folowd here.derby or not.

not in size limit..as to go back as soon as possible...no question there.

off season fish.back into the water as soon as possible.

bring a fish live to get register was the best way and its the best i saw in all the derby i have been seen some troble for people that bring some frozen fish caught 2 weeks before..saw that in derbys.

but whatever they do......some people do cheat.start before the derby start like last year.that is not honest at all.and hate that.... .

the only derby i saw that was the best there can be it the aleaxandria derby.......hard to beat for not sheating part.

JP,

You can count me in for a modest prize to be used for whatever it would do the most good. Last year I got together a smattering of ice fishing stuff, and I'll do something similar this year, whether for hard or soft water.

Where can I send the package and to whose attention?

 come on the honour system doesn't cut it??
I didn't mean a picture and measurement for the derby....just in general....But there must have been other situations like this, with derby's on bodies of water with slot sizes?

The fish caught have to be brought LIVE to the official Weigh/measurement station. The problem we have is for walleye only since the slot happens to be in effect on this day. We have already discussed the type of fish involved in this derby. When we have our meeting on Monday we will post what has been decided officially. The one thing that we will have to decide on is the walleye issue. Do we include walleye at all? Or come up with some way? We shall see on Monday.

Badger I totally agree with you, but I don't think there is any way of legally including biggest walleye in a Derby this size.

Bush Wacker the thread is called "The Ice Derby event", so what I said was for the Derby.

Myself, I agree with the 15 second picture-measurement and release. But that is still up to the MNR person that is going to either write you up or not. His discretion on how he interprets "As soon as possible"

hi wallyboss..

just a little thing here...15 seconde is even to long. :?

and if its very cold, very bad for the fish if its catch and release...i am sher people saw some walleye eyes froze fast in very cold condition..

like you said,,no way to do it legaly.

under size limit.back as soon as possible....not time to bring in a bucket etc(would be iligal).

sad thing but ...thats is the way th reg are done.(sorry boys)

or.

you can regester only the inside size limit only...and guive all the info at the registration booth.its doable...but people have to bring something to measure the fish,do it as fast as possible...and regesterd the legal size ones.....(undersize/disqualified..simple)

everything is duable.

there is some poeple in that derby/team event that ca take a good call on this.

good luck to all over there.

Wolfe thats great thank you very much. Your prizes were very well recieved last year.
I will pm where you can send the stuff. Hopefully you can come to this one.

Badger said it well, with the new slot size for walleye starting that day we have to figure out some things at the meeting. Last year we did have someone attempt to cheat. They caught a large pike then registered for the event and brought it in.

The measuring system was great last year and everyone was happy how it went.

Looking forward to getting the final details worked out and having the pre registration forms out there.
Cheers
