Navionics Hotmaps 2006 - problems

For Christmas I got the Lowrance H20 Handheld GPS, and on boxing day I purchased the 2006 Navionics Hotmaps Chip for Canada from Cabelas.
I followed the instructions to load the map, however when I go into the map data menu, and try to pull up the navionics charts it gives me 5 segmented choices - and I cannot seem to choose one that shows me:
All the lakes featured in the product
Any lake where the map will show me even the low definition countour lines etc

Basically I can see general bodies of water (e.g. Lake Kashiwigamog and Rice Lake) - but I just see the shoreline etc - no different than what I see on my Freedom Maps.

Has anyone else had this problem? Am I seeing all that I should be - is there a specific file I should choose?
I checked and the handheld I have does have the most current software version
Any info, help appreciated

Gordy: Hopefully you still have the packaging for the chip. In it there is an 800 number to call for support. They will walk you through it.

Gordy. Firstly, is your unit the H2O or the H2Oc. Seeing the Navionics chip you have is for all of Canada, you may not have picked the segment for Ontario. Best zoom out and the selected segment should come on screen of map, and show the segments for BC, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec and the maritimes you have selected. You may have picked the right segment but did not zoom in close enough for the contour lines to show etc. There is a update for the H2O units. Check the following link to help you determine if your unit is updated.

Thanks for the replies
My unit is the H20 - and when I looked at Lowrance's site, I am running on the latest software - however you may be correct that I am not selecting the right area
I did keep the package - so the goal is to call Navionics when I am home one day (their customer service centre is only open 8:30 - 4:00, Monday to Friday)

For the St Lawrence, the Navionics Gold Marine Chart number 14XG is the way to go. This chip includes detailed maps of all major navigable waters of Eastern Canada from Ontario through the Maritimes.

Hey there
Spent some time o the phone with navionics yesterday and I am good to go
Still figuring out the easiest way to find lakes etc - but I am able to pick the right file
Basically each of the 5 files represents a region, I needed to choose the Southern Ontario Region, and also ensure the navionics function was selected in map preferences

Hey Gordy. Glad you got things sorted out. Now you will have all winter to become an expert with the H2O, so when the soft water gets here, things will be a breeze.

Gordy I also have an H2O with a map chip purchased from LeBarons.
You have a great little machine there, I love mine.
Set up is a liitle difficult as you do have to select the correct file for your area, but the info available is great.
The only thing I don't like about them is that you must use their cigarette adaptor as it drops the volage electronically within the adaptor unit. Don't be tempted to cut the cable and mount it in you boat directly to the 12V system as this will damage the unit. For a mount I recommend the RAM Mount available at LeBarons, it has a good solid base and is infinetly variable to set the unit at any angle you want, as well it hold the H2O firmly when in rough water. My old Garmin unit used to jump out of the cradle if it got rough.
