Spring?? Tackle boxes ready yet?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

I keep seperate boxes for Spoons--Jigs---Plugs--Soft baits---Spinners. Then I have each class ie spinners--3 boxes---by size---Plugs 4 boxes by size etc Just take along the boxes you need that day for target species. Yard sales produce "cheap" access to tackle boxes.

In late fall,a couple of weeks after hanging up the rods for the season
i'll clean and re-organize my tackle box . :D 8)

In the spring , lets say a week after opening day..............I'll reach in
the box to grab a crankbait and 25 lures will come out with it

Oh no! now you guys got me worried about my half hearted attempts at organization. I guess I better replace all the rusty hooks from that saltwater trip and get some more lure boxes before I run into any of you.
Seriously though
I have been going with the species specific method of tackle organization. For example I keep all my Trout stuff together but divided into separate lure types in small cases and another for rigging components. seems to work most of the time. Having the small cases makes it easy to throw things together into my pack short notice for different situations/conditions without dragging around the Big boxes.

Thanks to everyone who contributed on this thread. Special thanks however has to go to Eye-tracker. I really liked the hook bonnet idea. I started setting up a couple of trays with them. What a great adjustment to the tackle box!! I can store multiple cranks in one tray, no more tangles, no more damage ... I love it!!

Here is a look at one re-organized tray:

It helps to take advise from a pro ... :D

Those hook bonnets seem to work pretty well, how much do they set you back ($)?

The ones I got where Luhr Jensen. They come in 3 sizes (that determines how many you get in a pack). The mid-size bonnets (green) went for like $1.98 for a 10 pack. I have seen them priced at $3.89 for a 30 pack as well.
