Maiden Voyage - Report w/ Pics
We took our new boat out for its maiden voyage yesterday afternoon. The weather was sunny and mild...a little breezy, but a beaut of a day to get the new ride in the water.
At the launch:
All My Boys:
View to the South:
Wow, what a treat to go from years of handling a stiff, heavy tiller to the console. The boat was fun to drive, ran beautifully and what a smooth ride. The engine purrs...a super-quiet ride considering the generous hp.
Fishing is almost not worth mentioning with the exception of a nice smallmouth taken on a plastic worm fished in slow motion. (Bass are open here, C&R only, artificial presentation only.) Landed, pic and released in about 30 seconds. They should all go so well. It felt great to be casting, regardless of the lack of action.
The Skunk Remedy:
Some VERY sizeable carp were breaking the surface. We keep saying we should learn to fish for carp!
We saw lots of birds & waterfowl, including kingfishers, loons and wood ducks, and it was just soooo good to be back on the water. Otisco is no Wolfe Lake, but it's still nice to have around.
All in all, a great 1st trip out for the new boat, which did not disappoint. Can't wait to get it up to Wolfe Lake. Very soon!
